Has anyone painted your brick house? This isn’t happening right now but we are thinking long term with our house. Our plan is to not move until we downsize many years from now, so we are trying to make it our own.
The plans include replacing all the windows, siding, trim/fascia, and gutters. Also probably tearing down and rebuilding the deck. A complete overhaul of the outside. Our brick is kind of a salmon-pink/red. It’s okay, but not the best. I also hate the color of the siding and the trim. It’s so muddy. The outside of the windows are beige. Ideally they would be white, or maybe a taupey-gray if the brick gets painted. Here’s a current picture, and a possible inspiration picture.
The brick paver walkway and porch will also be changed. Roof is staying - it’s new.
Would you paint the brick or work with what’s there? If you say keep it, what color siding and trim? I don’t know if our brick works great with white windows. They might be too stark?

I love the look of the painted brick, but I've heard it can be a lot of upkeep.
I think your brick is a nice color. If you don't paint the brick I'd paint the trim black or a really dark gray. I think the siding color would look better with black trim - so you may be ok with that color as is. If not I'd probably do a dark gray that is a few shades lighter than the trim.
I wouldn’t paint the brick because I think it’s really pretty. I would absolutely re-do the trim (including window trim) in a very dark colour (match that dark colour that’s in your existing brick) - I think that will look beautiful!
I’d keep the cream colour that’s around the second floor windows, and if anything, paint the siding the same cream colour, which would brighten it up a bit and also create more contrast against the brick.

The siding has to go. It’s aluminum and original. It has faded and is not in great condition. So we will be starting from scratch with that. We also want to do Hardie siding so it’s maintenance free.
Young House Love painted their similar coloured brick house white and it was beautiful when it was done. They did several blog posts about the products and process.
I'm not a huge fan of painting brick unless the brick is bad. Your brick is actually pretty. It's a beautiful, classic, and durable material, and the painted look that is so trendy now is extremely hard to undo if the trends change.
I'd keep the brick, but re-paint all the trim/re-side in a different color. And maybe a more interesting/coloful front door.
I think a new siding color and trim would change the look quite a bit. I personally wouldn't be excited about purchasing a home with painted brick because it just sounds like a PITA. I like your brick fwiw.
Painted brick is such a norm in London that it just feels normal to me. I love the look of painted brick and haven't seen it needing much work in the houses on our street (in 3 yrs not a single person has re-painted).
I'm not anti-painting brick. Our across the street neighbors painted their brick white and it looks great. They had a very pale salmon-colored brick. I actually like your brick though. I think I would play off the dark accents in the brick and go darker with your siding and windows.
Something along these lines--just a quick google search for a general idea:

We painted our house last summer and painted the brick. A lot of people were against painting the brick. I’m so glad I didn’t listen and I’m fine with needing to repaint it when needed if that’s an issue. I hated our exterior and now love it and this is going to be an almost forever house so I wanted to feel happy every time I pulled into the driveway and now I do. It’s not letting me post a photo.

Not that's exactly right - I think Hardie can be a PITA b/c you can't power wash it. We have old aluminum siding. Unless it's dinged up, it's perfectly fine. We did Hardie on our addition and it blends seamlessly w/painted aluminum.

One side has some hail damage. Also this house was built in the late 80s and the original owners ran cable wires through the siding, so it has holes. It definitely needs to be replaced. Plus I just like the look of Hardie better. It’s a very popular choice in our area - our neighbors had it done on their house a few years ago and it’s been great for them.
I don’t think your brick looks bad but i could see why you would want to paint it with the contrast of the siding. If you’re looking for a color suggestion, BM grey mist looks white on an exterior light but def has a Greyish/taupe feel.
