Putin Implicated in Downing of MH17

"Dutch prosecutors said Wednesday that it was likely Russian President Vladimir Putin personally signed off on a decision to supply long-range antiaircraft missiles systems to pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine before they shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in July 2014, killing all 298 passengers and crew." However, they also said the evidence was not strong enough to prosecute.

I saw this headline and my reaction was that this should be shocking and it's just not. (Still horrifying, of course.)

I don't understand how this could be. The plane pinged satellites for hours and hours until it stopped pinging in the south Indian Ocean. This, coupled with when and where it stopped responding and the abrupt changes of direction just don't point to being shot down.

You're thinking of the other mysterious Malaysian Airlines crash in 2014 which I believe was a flight from Beijing to Kuala Lumpur. Putin was involved in the second crash which was a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

You're thinking of the other mysterious Malaysian Airlines crash in 2014 which I believe was a flight from Beijing to Kuala Lumpur. Putin was involved in the second crash which was a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

i was just about to ask which downed Malaysian plane we were talking about but I couldn’t make the question not sound snarky. <— also sounds kinda snarky but I know which one now.

I appreciate the clarity on which Malaysian crash this was referring to, because I was thinking of the other one and was very confused.

I still feel like this is kind of wild. I mean, it’s no shock when Putin is involved in anything, but wow.
