We have a 90 lb all legs lady. She is about 18 months old. She doesn’t like having her paws touched, freaks out, pulls away, gets anxious.
So we tried to have the vet clip her nails. 4 techs, a vet, a muzzle and a bunch of peanut butter resulted in a couple random nails clipped and then abandoning ship.
So they recommended we give her a combo of two meds to get her calm and relaxed, then clip.
Didn’t work.
So they had us double meds.
Didn’t work (she was falling asleep sitting up, very relaxed - until we touched her feet and she started bucking like a bronco).
Any other nail clipping tips? Vet said they may have to put her under if we can’t get her through it calmly. I certainly don’t want to do that.
She is a wonderfully weird, sweet, loving baby, but she is a LOT of girl to manage. 😬😂
ETA we’ve had many dogs and have always made it through. She’s one of two right now and the other also doesn’t like nail clipping, but it is feasible. I’m at a loss with this one.
We had to sedate our previous dog for nail clippings (meds did NOTHING). Aside from the fact that it's not cheap, I initially was so afraid of doing this. Then we did it and I realized how much saner it was for EVERYONE, and I embraced it. We would try to time it with any other vet stuff that had to be done.

Basically, it'll be OK if that's where you land.
You know, she likes to scratch things so maybe this is an approach to try!
Glad to hear the sedation worked okay too - thank you for sharing that!
