I finished The Cloisters. I really liked it, other than it being a bit predictable for me.
Recently started The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez. Not bad so far, but I feel like her characters jump into things too fast, lol.
QOTW: That's a tough one. I think maybe lines. WDW would be so much more fun without lines! Haha. Plus I feel like I tend to have more unexpected lines than badly timed red lights.
I finished the last of the books from a "Best Historical Fiction list" I found last year. It was a lot of WWII books.
Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor, 4* (a little too romance for my taste, but still good)
Daughter of the Reich, 4* (interesting take on for a WWII novel, but it drags a little in the middle)
I tried reading Hungry Ghosts by Kevin Jared Hosein to mix things up, but I only got a couple pages before I realized I don't have the attention span right now for something like that.
The Boy in Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, 3.5* (I had a difficult time rating this. It was emotional, but IMO it doesn't work as a middle school book and it's too simplistic for an adult book).
I just started Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro last night. I have no idea what I'm currently reading. It's my first book by him so I hope it comes together soon. I see a lot of mixed reviews about his books.
Qotw: I would choose not to stand in line. I don't really drive that often or very far any more. After dealing with LA traffic for a few years I am a much more patient driver when it comes to lights.
I finished Notes on an Execution (did not enjoy this, but looking forward to discussing) and have had trouble getting anything else started. I’m currently attempting Laini Taylor’s Strange the Dreamer and hoping I can stick with it.
QOTW: I would definitely pick no waiting in line. I don’t really mind traffic lights much.
Finished Open Water. I have determined that I am not a fan of books written in second person. Also, there were times I had a hard time following the story.
Earlier this week I read The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. I was really looking forward to this because I absolutely loved The Future of Another Timeline but this one was just not for me. I actually gave up 2/3 of the way through.
Now I am reading The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher. I haven't made it very far but I am really enjoying the writing style.
QOTW: No more red lights! Most of my driving is in the city and our lights are timed really poorly. I already avoid places where I need to stand in line so that's less of an issue for me.

I had the same reaction to Terraformers — Future of Another Timeline was so good, so I was really disappointed that this one didn’t work for me.

I have discovered that I'm not a fan of books written in second person either. I had the hardest time reading Notes on an Execution because of the chapters written in second person. I couldn't even finish The Fifth Season when we read it for book club because I found it so irritating.

Finished Half a Soul which was a light and easy read.
Still reading Mary B and Great Circle.
Started Notes on an Execution which I'm not enjoying, but I didn't think I would. I probably would have loved it when I was a teenager, but these kind of stories have lost their appeal as I've gotten older.
Started listening to My Lady Jane which is fantastic. It's loosely based on the 9 day reign of Lady Jane Grey, but in the same way the show "The Great" is loosely based on Catherine the Great. Rather than Protestants and Catholics, the book sets up "Eđians" (those who can magically transform into animals) and "Verities" (those who think Ethians should be eliminated). (So Edward creates the new line of succession because Mary is a Verite, not a Catholic) I'm only a couple hours in, but I've already added everything she's written to my "to read" list.
QOTW: Would you rather have all traffic lights you approach be green or never have to stand in line again? Never have to stand in line. I don't mind red lights so much, but I always manage to get in line behind a person who seems new to the Earth and needs concepts like "paying" explained to them.
