W: DH has had some luck selling some items online. He sold DD's old loft bed for $100 and DS's baseball bag for $15. I asked him to post DD's old softball gear, which he still needs to do, but hoping we can get around $75 for all of it.
L: We got takeout pretty much all weekend due to being gone at the Odyssey of the Mind competition on Saturday and then the Super Bowl on Sunday.
L: We had to pay our winter taxes ($2k) for our property up north.
L: lost a $25 bet at the Super Bowl party I was at. W: was invited to a hockey game and a Super Bowl party so spent very little on outside food all weekend (like $50 total)
Loses: I keep bleeding money. Pretty much anything is a loss these days. My homeowners went up about $300/year because I had a claim last year. It was a burst pipe. Too much $$ for me to cover by myself.
Win: Publix has a "get it free if the price is wrong policy." (Well, the first one-not 20 of one item.) I got a 2 pack of my favorite stupidly expensive dental floss free when the price rang up wrong, AND it took off the $2 digital coupon.

L: found out that to install the charger we need for H’s electric truck, we have to replace our panel and move our meter. No idea how much money yet, but hearing our electrician describe the process I’m sure it’s going to be $$$$$.
W: hopefully I have a win by the end of the week. I definitely won’t have anything big enough to balance out my loss.
I'm trying to help my dad get his finances in order. Finding the necessary paperwork is a chore. Hey dad, do you need this water bill from 2012? I'm trying to file for the NJ senior citizen property tax freeze. If he had applied for it when he was first eligible, he'd be at 2009 tax rates, but he never did, so I can hopefully at least get his tax rate frozen at 2021 levels. But the big win was I found all the documentation I needed to file for the ANCHOR rebate, which will be $1500, which is meaningful to him. for me, February and March are tough $ months because there are SO many birthdays in our family!
No wins yet this week but one L: pulled the trigger on a new stove for our cabin. The oven part went out a few months ago and since we've not been there much over the winter I've just been waiting to order a new one.
Mine is kind of a weird win, and a bit of hassle for me, but also a relief. I got our mortgage servicer to close our escrow account and now I can self-manage homeowners insurance payment and property tax payments. It's a hassle in that it's on me now and I'll have to manage the monthly set-aside for those things, and will get the marginal benefit of interest on that money in an online savings account. OTOH, the mortgage servicer is SO DUMB and I want to be done with them. In 2021 (first year with this servicer after a refi) they didn't pay our property taxes and damn near got a lien placed on our house and it took me 3 months of increasingly angry phone calls and emails for them do deal with it. And they paid it in the next calendar year, which screwed up our taxes. And then this year they screwed up our escrow projection and were about to under-escrow our taxes by thousands of dollars. Our 2022 taxes got paid in two installments this year because we appealed our assessment... so it was paid like $6600 and then $260 two weeks later. They based our escrow projection on $260 instead of the full amount. Sent us a check rebalancing our escrow account and cut our payment $600. Which would have been lovely if it was true, but alas, they are just not good at their job.

Ooooh, which one? We have a Rivian and love it!
Thankfully our panel could handle the level 2 charger we installed, but just running the 6g wire (so we can charge at 48amps) and install of the wall charger in our garage was almost $2k Worth it though.
W: Found the perfect lampshade for less than $20 at a local store. I thought I was going to need to spend like $50+. Why are lampshades so expensive?!
W: Only ate out once last week (got together with friends).
L: We are going to need to remove three trees from next to our driveway due to overcrowding. Slight win in that they are offering us a 20% discount if we book in winter, but it's still going to be expensive.

He’s getting a Ford Lightning. He’s super excited, but this definitely dampened his excitement.
Loss: although we had a great time so it's weird calling it a loss, we spent almost $300 on a night out celebrating our anniversary. This was for parking, drinks, and a really nice dinner. The sticker shock is just a lot for a few hours!
Win: I'm struggling to think of anything! I got my new Marriot Bonvoy credit card in the mail, so hopefully the bonus will lead to a win!

kadams767 that's amazing!! Congrats on paying off your mortgage!!
It's just been a series of losses over here. $1300 to take down a rotting oak tree, $550 to soft wash my roof and house. I know I'm going to owe on my taxes so I'm putting that off as long as possible.
My win is I made my H go with me to donate blood and we have earned $60 in gift cards so we get free date night on Saturday.
I wanted to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once before the Oscars, but I was annoyed because it's not available on any streaming service I have (Prime, Netflix, and Disney+) and I didn't want to start another one.

Way to go on the blood donation... also just a great thing to do with such a shortage! Nice!
W: I did a rough calculation this week and our tax refund is going to be in the range of $15,000. Just waiting on my T4 to finalize. Most of that money will be reinvested in retirement savings but it’s a pretty nice boost to the bottom line right now.
W: I spoke to my friend and asked her to organize her rebachelorette weekend. Last years was a disaster (I had HFM and couldn’t attend and she had to leave early because her dad was dying.) I would organize, however I’m out $800 due to some of her friends from work that I don’t know who backed out last minute or never paid me. It was messy and she was obviously grieving so I never pushed back because it wasn’t that important. I just decided there was no way I could do this again. So I don’t have to put down an $800 deposit on a cottage weekend this week. She is going to do it herself.
L: We got takeout last weekend which is rare for us but it was necessary for our sanity.
W: We finally received a refund check for our amended 2020 tax return!!! There was a mistake on one of our forms that made a significant change to our taxes (we had owed that year). H submitted the amended return over a year ago. I think they lost it the first time and he had to resubmit it like 6 months later. The check finally came and included interest. I'm so happy that is done with.
L: H had a fender bender with my car a few weeks ago. He backed into another car in a parking lot. It sucked, but luckily the other car had no damage and they were very nice about it. Our car had a cracked bumper, so it cost almost $1k to fix. OUCH! Oh well, it is done and we've been lucky (knock on wood) to have not had car issues in a long time. My car is 13 years old and going strong, I plan to drive it at least another few years.

Well, here is my loss and wtf moment of the week...
187 at grocery store thus week.. I haven't been in 2 weeks...we needed a lot. Had decent coupons. Then BJs.. 450!!! Uggh. Had coupons but needed to stock up on snacks, cereal, some cleaning supplies...ugh. need to find a pt job just for groceries
W: I am now eligible for an annual clothing allowance as one of my benefits at work so I signed up for Stitchfix and received my first box yesterday. I ended up loving everything in the box and I didnt have one ounce of guilt keeping it all since it's not costing me anything out of pocket.
W - I don’t work, but I do some occasional babysitting. It just blows my mind every time someone happily pays me $25/hr to get their kid in bed and then watch TV for a few hours.
We are just hemorrhaging money in every direction. Most of my wins are just losses that weren’t as bad as I was expecting. Like - we’re about to get a $1400 rebate check from Costco, which is great, but reflects the ungodly amount of money we spent on the CC over the past year. But I’ll take it! And I’m sure I’ll spend it back at Costco again.
