This is unfolding now. Reports are all over the place from one dead to multiple injuries. It’s unclear what is actually happening. Personally, I know students sheltering in their coach’s office with the door locked and lights off.
I'm sick to my stomach about this. I know so many people who have kids there.
Same. Including one who was at Oxford. This is heartbreaking, terrifying, enraging….so many things.
That’s exactly where my mind went first - how many kids were at Oxford and now are at State? No one should have to go through this twice in a year and a half.
cap, I’m glad you’re safe. I’m sorry this hits so close to home for you.
I’m seeing reports this morning of 3 dead and 5 injured. This (just like all the others) is heart breaking. Apparently the shooter was not a student but a 43 year old man

With no ties to the school. I wonder what the motive here was. Super scary. I have family there and my H and I are alums.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
Hugs to everyone that is also impacted today. My aunt and cousin (MSU alum and staff) were sheltering in place and thankfully safe. My cousin also works in the district cap mentioned and is not doing well this am after last week’s scare and last night’s real incident.

Scrolling through tiktok this morning, I saw a video from a girl who has now lived through two school shootings: Sandy Hook and MSU. And saw a video of kids sheltering in place at MSU arguing with someone who is going to open the door to "police" - unclear if it was actually police or not in the video, but the fear in these kids voices.

I grew up in East Lansing. And went to ELHighSchool. Half of my graduating class went to MSU. Many many MANY work on campus even now as staff or professors.
@@@@@@ This combined with the gun threats/incidents at ELHS and a neighboring school referenced above... it's a lot in a short amount of time for the whole community.
MSU Police have confirmed the shooter had a note on his person. No report of what it said, only that it is being investigated by law enforcement. I wonder if there will be any indication of motive since he seems to have no affiliation with the school.
I run one of the large research facilities on campus so went to do a walk through to check on everything a bit ago (it's an SOP for someone to check on things on non-work days). I started crying when I turned the corner and was on main campus.
I'm also getting really worried because I haven't yet heard from one of our four student employees. I texted them all earlier today and have only heard from three of them. The four full-time staff that I supervise are all safe.

How scary. I will be hoping they are safe. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I finally heard back from him a bit ago and he is ok.
