I know we have some Federal employees. What does “12 month register” mean on a job listing. Does that mean it’s only a year appointment? TIA

I think it means it’s a job that’s open or they can hire from for 12 months

1 one year appointment would have terms like Not to Exceed (NTE) and/or called a Term appointment.

Not sure I’ve seen that (my agency doesn’t use hiring banks), but, like Bernadine, I would say it’s a hiring/resume bank that remains active for a year, and they can pull from it whenever something comes up. Probably a Jon within high turnover.
