The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, 3*- it was ok. There were things I liked about it and things I didn't.
All the Broken Places by John Boyne, 5*- he took The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (which I found mediocre) and wrote an excellent sequel to it. It's emotional and not a light read.
Code Name Blue Wren by Jim Popkin, DNF-dry and boring.
Currently reading Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger.
Qotw: I don't remember watching many movies when I was younger.
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin - 3.5*? It got kind of slow in the middle, but the last two chapters were stellar.
Now I'm reading The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn and it's quite addictive. So far, it's a 1920's period piece set at a family estate in Dorset, England and sort of like Downton Abbey.
QOTW: Grease or Close Encounters of the Third Kind (this really ages me!)
I finished Perfect Little World by Kevin Wilson, which I enjoyed, but I think the fact that I was able to finish it sitting outside on a weirdly warm February day made me enjoy it more than the book necessarily deserved. Now reading I Have Some Questions For You by Rebecca Makkai — too soon to tell but I generally like her books. (It’s back to seasonably cold, so no more outside reading.)
QOTW: I think The Princess Bride is the first one I remember being a favorite. Before VCRs were a thing, my favorite was probably Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music, which I remember as being on network tv once or twice a year.

I picked that up in the library one day and put it back, but your description makes it sound more appealing than the jacket copy did. I’ll have to add it to my list.

Recently finished As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow. Loved it! Currently reading The Marriage Portrait. It was a little slow at first, but picking up now.
QOTW: The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. I was very much a Disney kid (and still am, haha)!
Earlier this week I finished The Light Pirate. I absolutely loved the writing and the way they described the changing world. As someone who used to live in SE Florida, I kept trying to figure out where Rudder was supposed to be located. At the same time, I really wasn't invested in the main character's story and found that a bit lacking. I still gave it 5 stars though because I think it will stay with me quite a while.
Now I am about 1/4 of the way into Iron Widow by by Xiran Jay Zhao. The premise is interesting but the book is just okay so far.
QOTW: When I wrote this question I was thinking of Goonies. However, I once tried to skip my own birthday party because The Dark Crystal was on tv so I think that wins.

Jan and Feb have been tough reading months. This weekend I made a LOT of progress on "Twenty Years Later" (audio and reading e-book.) I should be able to finish tonight. Glad I've stuck with it, but this book should be at least 100 pages shorter as they repeat a LOT of unnecessary details.
QOTW: The Little Mermaid, Hocus Pocus, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. When I got a little older I also LOVED the coming of age movies like My Girl, Now and Then etc. Can you tell I grew up in a small town with little to do, lol.

Finished the Great Circle, Notes on an Execution, Mary Bennet and the Bingley Codex, and Being Mary Bennet. They were all fine, but not outstanding, with Mary Bennet and the Bingley Codex being the best of the bunch - not sure if I'm going to continue with the series.
Started reading Pride and Protest which is a modern retelling based on the gentrification of a neighborhood in DC by Pemberly Corp. It's fine, but I'm really not digging the over-sexualization of the Darcy character who is constantly talking/thinking about where he wants to place his erection vis a vis the Lizzie character in fairly explicit terms. Not.My.Darcy
Started listening to Ten Thousand Stitches which is the sequel to Half a Soul which I read earlier this month. It's got a very Cinderella vibe as a housemaid gets help from a fairy to help her win the love of a lord.
QOTW: What was your favorite movie when you were a kid? Labyrinth. It had everything, hot goblin, puppets, music, adventure!
