If you have bangs, do you trim them between cuts yourself?
I’ve had bangs my whole life - different types but usually shorter choppy style. My sister was aghast that I trimmed them myself. I’m pretty cavalier at this stage too. I used to use precision cutting, taking millimeters at a time, but now I know as long as I keep them choppy and not too short, they’ll grow just fine
Even when I got my hair cut every couple of months, my bangs need to be trimmed more regularly and it’s been a long time since stylist have offered me free trims. So now that I only get my hair cut once every six months, I have to if I don’t want to spend 15$ every 3-4 weeks.

I don't currently have bangs, but when I do, I have always trimmed them myself. That being said, my bangs were never straight across. I would just pull them to the middle, twist, and cut a teeny bit off. They always laid nicely after, probably because I didn't have a blunt/straight cut though.

I have curly hair. There is no way I'd ever cut my own hair. Even stylists do a shitty job if they don't know curly hair. Luckily, I can get away with longer bangs, if I have them, and get a cut every 4-6 months.
I don’t have bangs, but I’ve been cutting my own hair since 2020. I like it enough that it’s hard to justify the expensive haircuts.
This. I have a pixie cut, so pretty easy to maintain myself and I've saved so much money not going to the salon every few weeks! Therefore, I am firmly in the camp of trimming your own bangs is fine if you feel comfortable doing it.
I don’t have bangs now but when I did I would occasionally trim them. They were straight across bangs and the best piece of advice I could give would be to trim into them (scissors held vertically) just a little bit at a time from the bottom. Def not just straight across.
I cut my own hair (including bangs). I think my last professional haircut was in 2002? It's hard to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair properly, so I just learned to do it myself. Plus, it's free and my hair grows fast so I need to cut it often.
I have curly hair and longer bangs so I will trim tips of curls here and there when things start to get out of control and curls take on a mind of their own.
I had bangs a lifetime ago and trimmed them myself. My DD has them now and I trim them for her, it is a lot more forgiving to point cut instead of just cutting straight across.

I try to have my bangs cut in a way that will grow out in the least annoying way possible. I ask for them to be cut about a 1/4" shorter than ideal and have them cut at an angle on the sides so I can do more of a curtain bang thing when they get long. My stylist does offer one free bang trim per haircut and I take advantage of that.
I currently have curtain bangs and I do snip them if I see a split end.
When I had traditional bangs I did sometimes snip them myself using the twist-snip method. My then-stylist was local and would give them a free dusting if I stopped in but that wasn't always feasible. I'm in the suburbs and my new person is in the city (20 minutes to the station, 50 minutes on the train and a 1/2 mile walk), is very unlikely.
I don't know why I even read this since I don't have bangs, but I can tell you the word "bang" has lost all meaning in this context. Who decided to call short hair in the front bangs?
I've had bangs for a really long time and trim them myself. My stylist is an hour away, so she taught me how to do so. Her biggest tips were to not rush and cut just a tiny amount at a time.

Yes. A former stylist and friend taught me how years ago. I used a single-blade disposable razor. I don't have bangs now, but when I do, I trim myself between cuts. My current stylist (for 10+ years), says I'm her only client who is allowed to trim her own bangs, haha
I've been cutting my hair for years, and I've also cut bangs and trimmed them. The stylist I've seen a handful of times says I have pretty good technique, so I'll KOKO. 😆

As the resident GBCN historian, I investigated. Apparently the hairstyle started being called "bangs" in the late 1800s (even though the style existed much earlier).
And "bangs" comes from the word "bangtail." That's a style for cutting horse's tails in a straight line to give it a flat end. So the name for bangs comes from horses. Fun fact! "Bangtail" was also slang for prostitute.
