Hi! First time posting on this board, but I am stumped. We are in the beginning stages of a kitchen remodel. Cabinets have been purchased, counter has been chosen, everything is moving along except for the paint color.
Our house is a split-level with the kitchen, dining room, and family room on the entry level. Downstairs is a living room, bathroom and 2 bedrooms (that we use as an office and playroom), the upper level is 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. My kitchen and dining room are essentially one giant room. We will have a peninsula that "divides" the room, but it's otherwise totally open. It is not open concept to the family room. The dining room area gets a ton of natural light (we have French doors that exit to our backyard). The kitchen part doesn't get quite as much natural light.
The cabinets we have selected are these for the uppers and these for the lowers. Our floors are similar to this with gray grout (original floors are staying). This is the countertop we've chosen. We're likely doing white subway tile backsplash with gray grout. All of our trim and interior doors will be white.
Originally I wanted a light blue-ish gray paint, but everything I like is too close in color to the upper cabinets. I really, really do not want white walls. DH thinks perhaps we should try a darker gray paint, thinking all the white will brighten it up, but I'm afraid it will be too dark in the kitchen part of the room.
I'm open to other suggestions. I'd like to avoid any blues unless it has gray undertones. My original strong contender was Passive by SW, but it's almost identical to the upper cabinets. Any ideas? Thank you!
I have SW ice cube in a couple different places in my house. My ceiling in my master bath and my ds's bedroom walls. It is classified as white but really is a super light gray. It still may be too close to your cabinet color.
Try Sherwin Williams eider white. We have it in two bathrooms and it’s a nice chameleon color that looks a little more taupey grey in one room and more of a true pale grey in the other.
ETA: If you want more blue, SW Icicle. It’s a blue grey that leans grey in bright light and light blue in darker areas.

We wanted a "warm blue-gray" (which, yes, seems like an oxymoron), and ended up with BM Silver Gray. It seems like it's in the ballpark of what you're after... maybe a lighter shade close to it would work?

This one is one I've had the swatch on my wall for a few days. It does lean light blue in the darker areas, which isn't too bad because I don't have a lot of wall real estate in the kitchen. Maybe I'll pick up a sample and put it in both spaces and see.
