I want to replace all of our bath towels with new ones. No matter what I brand I buy they always end up looking like they were mauled by a lion. Are there towels that don’t look like crap after a few years or do we just have replace towels more often?
What are the very best towels you’ve bought? the big bath sheet size is a must.
But also, I have cheap towels from 10 years ago that are still holding up as dog towels. I wonder if it's something with your washer that's tearing up your towels.

funny you said that because we first thought it was our washing machine (with agigator) in our old house. Got a new one there and that didn't help. Now we moved and our back to a washing machine with agigator. Our towels did seem better with the front loader but they were still getting destroyed.
I love Garnet Hill towels. LL Bean lasts a long time, too. I generally only have to replace my towels once a decade for wear. For Garnet Hill, definitely wait for a sale. They have 30% off sales pretty often, like every other month.
Oh - one thought - are you using fabric softener? I think it's not good for towels, which sounds counter intuitive IMO.
I used to go through towels fast - they would fade and fray and fall apart. I stopped using fabric softener (ok and I no longer get colored towels) and it seems to help.
We got our towels at Kohl's and they have held up really well. I'm too cheap to spend much on things like towels so I'm sure we got the low end options. We've had them at least 7 years and they are still good. H has a couple really big thick ones that he got at Sam's and they are holding up well too.

We generally get the Charisma towels from Costco due to price and quality we can get. I have been looking at those Turkish towels I've seen advertised on FB/Insta and I'm not sure. We do need a linen overhaul.

Honestly, Costco. We had super expensive Hotel brand towels and they ended up just being dull and crunchy after a few years. Costco towels are so great - and we use bath sheets too. And for the price you can replace them every few years. We definitely have some that are 5 years old and are doing just fine.
I bought Sonoma Goods for Life bath sheets from Kohls a while ago and have been pleased with how they have held up. I waited until I saw a good sale and just ordered more in January.

I am also a fan of Kohls towels (the Sonoma brand, but we also have some Vera Wang ones, but do not like The Big Ones).
I also really like a brand called Caro that I found at TJ Maxx because there was a patterned towel that matched our bathroom when we moved. I wanted more so I looked them up online and found them at Macys and Target I think, but they were way more expensive, but then I found more at a different TJ Maxx so I bought them there. They have held up really well too.
Costco Charisma towels really are great. I recently moved and only have Sam’s club now (sigh), and their towels are good too. I don’t buy the giant bath sheet size, but they may have that size as an option?
How are your towels getting damaged? Are the terry loops snagging, the hems coming out, are they getting holes in them, etc? I would the googling the specific damage and see if there’s a solution. The only towel of ours that’s damaged is an old Vera Wang from Kohl’s and it’s probably 15 years old.
I am also replacing a lot of our towels and paring down to just 8 really good towels. I really like the Kohls ribbed bath sheet, but we got the towel version and idk if it is supposed to be different quality or if they changed manufacturers but they do not absorb water - it's like drying off with a fleece blanket.
I had the Costco towels in the past and will probably go back to those, they are super nice.
Frontgate Resort Collection bath towels. Sometimes you can get the on sale, but not often more than 10%. Looks for free shipping codes. The ones I got 3-4 years ago are still nearly new. Compared to the Costco Charisma towels that are faded and starting to fall apart.

I absolutely love pottery barn towels. They’re pricey, but I still have the ones I got at my bridal shower 17 years ago and they’re still in nice shape. And thats with sometimes not great washers (we were using apartment laundry rooms for years and different options of varying quality in various rentals). I just bought new ones to go with my new bathroom because I love them so much!
Our first set of bath sheets (we use them daily) were from Bed Bath & Beyond and lasted 11 years - probably would have gone longer but I tired of the color. When we bought a house we replaced them with bath sheets from Target (because the brand of the first ones was no longer made at BB&B) and those have been going strong for 7+ years now.
I only buy bath sheet size. Right now, ours can from Costco and are doing fine. They have a really distinctive weave and look nothing like the options at the Costco website now.
We found some Ralph Lauren ones on crazy sale once. It was just in time to have my entire family descend upon us in our new house for Christmas, so we bought a ton. We have two that we use in our own bathroom that are still super nice. We have like 12 others that we use for guests (AKA not that often) and all but one are still in great shape. For some reason one's edging frayed or something. Since I think we spent like $100 total, I use fabric softener (like a tablespoon per load y'all, to make them smell good), and they're probably 8 years old I'm OK with it.

I am obsessed with my Brook Linen superplush bath sheets. My daughter keeps trying to steal mine, so I may have to get her some of her own. They are amazing.

I guess it's the loops snagging? They are just full of loose threads and snags. Like I gave it to my cat as a scratching post, but every single towel, all over.

Do you wash towels with clothes? Maybe zippers etc are snagging the loops.
