If the legislators really cared about helping all Texas families, there are many other ways to do it.
This primarily benefits republican families, based on the wealth distribution and property ownership rates in our state. And republicans tend to be white and conservative Latinos. It excludes all the LGBTQ+ parents who happily take on lots of foster kids and adopt when there are no legal hurdles to do so. It's gross.
No one's asked yet - is it only for white people? Because you know they really only want to encourage higher birth rates among whites. Just like conservatives think that banning abortion will lead to an increase of white babies available for adoption.
