Biden administration may reinstate migrant family detention

I’m shocked we haven’t talked about this because I was shocked to hear about it.

Even if they end up not doing it due to pushback there has to be some truth to the story, which is… not a good look for someone who will need to highlight how he’s better than Trump in 2024.

Beyond fucked and has been contributing to my existential dread about the future of this country. I’m not a “both parties are the same person” for obvious reasons but the Venn diagram is pretty solid and it feels like it’s getting worse.

I will read the article but can't right now BUT on NPR today they had the journalist who wrote the NYT article about child labor. She was saying part of the issue is HHS is under tremendous pressure to immediately house kids so they are sending them to unsafe homes where they are trafficked or forced to work. The reporter mentioned HHS employees saying the situation is often worse for kids then it was under trump because they have zero time to find them safe sponsors and no place to put them as a safe in-between spot.

I am not saying this is the answer but the current situation also seems horrible. They lost track of 1/3 of kids!

Neither seem like safe option for kids and it's heartbreaking.

I would guess they need more money then they are ever going to get to protect the kids.

Eta: Again want to make it clear that I am not in favor of this. It is all just horrible.
