That does seem like it would be the sensible choice. The actual venue is near literally nothing but maybe I could find something not too far off the route for before and after. Their website had some suggestions about food and lodging but they were all assuming you’d be coming from a different direction that I would be.
Oh, that's a bummer. I was thinking rush hour meant you were going into a city, now I see it's the traffic of cities without any of the convenience. Boo.
That’s exactly it. 😢 Leaving one city, driving though a second and into a rural area outer area of a third city. All of the traffic, none of the fun.
Can I brag about my daughter for a moment? After a long harrowing application process in the fall, high school acceptances finally came out this week. We live in NYC which has hundreds of really interesting high schools, but it is a very tedious and stressful process finding ones that are a good fit and that your kid can actually get accepted. My daughter auditioned for a few performing arts high schools. She got accepted into one of her favorites! it was actually my first choice because i got such a warm and supportive feeling from the open house. And unlike the other schools she auditioned for, instead of majors all kids study dance, music, acting, and production design. she takes dance classes instead of gym class. :-)
We put an offer on a cottage today. Fingers crossed we get it. It came to market today we viewed in this morning and there was an open house this afternoon. The list agent works for the same agency as our agent and told her they had another agent say they were writing an offer as well. They will be reviewing offers on Monday. I’m so nervous!

I made a giant almond croissant this morning, painted a cute plate with a piece of toast hugging a butter pat, and then made coconut rice pudding (I cannot wait to eat a bowl of this with champagne mango on top!)
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I need an app where I can throw in my bills and their due dates along with our income to tell me when to pay bills. H took a pay cut and I'm trying to get everything figured out.
On paper we have more than enough money for monthly expenses, but when I'm actually paying something is off. Does an app like this exist?

We went to a bunch of open houses today and I’m exhausted. We’re planning to go to a few more tomorrow. We met with a nice realtor and I guess H and I have to decide if what we are doing and if want to work with this realtor.
I feel a little like I’m on an episode of house hunters. H is like, here’s our hard line budget, and I’m like, eh, we can go a little higher 😂 H says we can probably get by with only 1 bathroom and I’m like, nope, it’s 2 or nothing. Haha. Chances are we won’t end up buying, but it’s fun to look.
Is it on a weekday? I am kind of cheap when it comes to hotels so I probably would not. But if it is on a weekday in certain locations I might consider it, or at least leave super early in the morning if not.
It’s a Wednesday. It’s in PA between York and Harrisburg. I don’t know what the traffic is like then. I’ve always just avoided those hours when I’ve gone to either city during the week. It would just be a really long day.
You can definitely hit some bad traffic then but I don’t think it would be terrible either way unless there’s an accident. I would probably leave extra early and then maybe just hang out for a half hour or so and grab a snack and I think the majority of the rush would be past by then.
ETA: I lived just across the river from Harrisburg if you want any recommendations near the event feel free to PM me and I can try to help. I frequent some parts of the city more than others.
I am fairly certain I have fractured my clavicle. Again. Same side. It was feeling funny when I would do things and then I noticed some swelling and that it is raised. And now more discomfort.
I go 45 years never breaking or fracturing a bone and now twice, the same one in a years time.

Yesterday we took the kids to get new passports. We saw a fun trip idea weeks ago and plane tickets and resort were a good price and then we remembered the kids' passports expire in July and in this never say never world we decided not to chance anything, so we got new ones. I always thought they mailed in one or the other birth certificate or passport, but they took both and said it was because our passports are still current, if they had expired they wouldn't have taken it. That makes sense and we weren't using them anymore anyhow.
Then DD and DS2 had an all day activity,so DH and I took DS1 to lunch and a movie. We went to Topgolf first, but the wait was 3 hours, so we bought movie tickets and had an hour and a half to kill. There was an Ikea across the road from where we were and DS1 had never been in one before (only the second time DH and I've been in one, the first was over 15 years ago when we had time to kill). Now DS1 says "Well, I never have to set foot in there again". He was overwhelmed by the amount of products "Sometimes I just looked up at the ceiling to give my eyes a rest since it was the only place they don't have stuff for sell". It was fun having one on one time with him. We never go to a movie anymore as DH and I prefer to stream it at home, but it was nice for DS1 to pick what we did.
It's snowing here now, but won't amount to much. Too cold to want to go out to do anything today. Good day for the fireplace to be on, soup, and a movie.
We went to a special event at a local winery last night and it was a lot of fun. They seated us at a table with other guests which was actually kind of fun, except that one guy just would not stop talking. On one hand, we didn't have to do the heavy lifting of conversation with strangers. On the other hand, he was mansplaining farming to us (my H and I both come from generations of farmers) because he had spent an afternoon at a touristy farm once, which was both infuriating but also pretty funny.
My kid got her brace to correct pectus carinatum yesterday. She's getting the hang of putting it on/adjusting it herself and wore it a couple hours yesterday. She was able to sleep in it about an hour last night. We're hoping to work up to her wearing it the full night by midweek, but need to get the right pillow situation to help. Right now, she's only really able to sleep with it on while on her back; she's normally a side sleeper. I'm hoping a body pillow will help with that.

I have a gut feeling that you are NOT going to get it and the other person that wrote the offer will get the cottage because they are more deserving than you and your family
Day 3 of covid isolation. I’m staying in my daughter’s room and masking when I go into the hall or to use the bathroom. H knocks and leaves food outside my door like a little changeling baby being left at a nunnery’s, lol.
H has been isolated from me since my first very faint positive snd has had negative tests every day. Can he go to a concert tonight if he masks up (snd tests negative immediately prior, of course)?
Exposure: separate rooms on same floor, masked in the bathroom and I run the air filter and spray with Lysol before I leave. H avoids the bathroom while the Lysol takes effect. My bed is more than 6 feet from the bedroom door.
rosiebear - I’d say yes. A concert is an inherently risky thing to attend and he surely wouldn’t be the riskiest person to be around, you know? Most people probably won’t be testing before attending.

We left our kids (14 and 16.5) home alone for the first time this weekend. We had non-refundable reservations in Whistler but DD was worried about missing a day of school/AP classes because she'd missed 3 days recently due to covid. And both kids were worried about missing lacrosse. I was a little nervous leaving then but they're good, responsible kids, DD has her license, and we have multiple good friends that live within 1/2 mile of us who could step in if needed.
They did great! Got themselves to school and games/practices on time, took care of the dog, kept the house clean, stuck to their curfews, etc.
And H and I had a nice weekend the two of us (and some friends who were up there) and finally skied a run we've talked about for awhile. Was so steep it made my legs shake but we skied it twice!

I think this would be fine. Hope you're feeling ok!

I won bingo last night! I took $60 for eating and gambling. I came home with $378 in cash. I went in Jan and won $245 profit. I told my friends I’m done for a while. We typically go once every few years. Twice in one year and being ahead is pushing it. Lol

Yesterday I saw a trailer for the new Jennifer Lawrence movie, No Hard Feelings. Parents hire her, 30 something woman, to date and have sex with their recluse teenage son. I mean, he is of age at 19, but the whole premise just seems icky. Pretty sure there would be outrage if the sexes were swapped, but instead I see articles calling it a fun romp. Hmmmmmm.....

Between this and the Whale, I’m really wondering what is going on. It seems like there are so few non superhero movies coming out and this is what we get?? No thanks .
