@@ regarding school board
Our April election is quickly approaching. The huge topic on our ballots is our district’s school board. There’s 4 complete nutters basically running as a group - all 4 of them have their names on the same sign and all the mailers going out. I have a ton of info about these and the 4 candidates I will be voting for.
How do you go about finding info for less well-known positions? For example, park district commissioner, fire trustee, college trustee, etc. I want to be such an informed voter, but I can’t find any info about these people and their stances online.
We have local a local dems group that does forums for contested races for lesser known races. Our local paper will also highlight races. Sometimes, candidates will put together a FB candidate page. And, sometimes, for these smaller races, there's not a lot published. It's not uncommon for folks in my town to reach out to candidates directly with questions, but there's a lot of community overlap outside of politics (sports/kids events/activities/erc) so you end up "knowing" a lot of people in town.
