Hi all!
I'm in the very early stages of planning our second Disney trip for my daughter's 5th birthday. She loooooves princessess, dress-up, hair, nails, makeup, etc so I was thinking of taking her to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on her actuallly birthday. Has anyone been lately and have tips? Like most things Disney on a quick search it seems overwhelming with options, packages and what not. Is it better to do the MK location and spend the day in the park? If you went with a 5 year old, did they stay with their hair done and dresses on all the rides and walking around all day? I feel like she will love it in the moment but get tired of it quickly.
also more of a general question...how early should I book an October trip? Is now too soon? For the hotel I mean, I know boutique reservations won't be available until 60 days out.

I booked my December trip in January so definitely not too early!
We have never done BBB but when we have gone the kids definitely wear their hair/outfit that day and then it seems that the hair stays for a few days. You’ll see plenty of kids walking around with the BBB princess bun and glitter, with and without the costumes.

I don't have kids but yes you see little kids with their dresses/costumes all day. But some also change out of it but keep the hair. MK reservations are harder to get, but personally I think it would feel more special to do it there and get to take photos with the princesses, etc. Keep in mind, if you are staying on Disney property you can make reservations for BBB 60 days out from CHECK-IN DAY, so if you are going Monday-Friday, you will have better luck getting a reservation for Thursday than say, Tuesday.
FYI you can book a package that is just the hair/makeup/nail polish/sash and skip the costume. Or you can bring your own (cheaper) costume and your child can wear that.
If you are looking at October 2023 I would book it soon, they haven't announced dates yet for the Halloween parties, but once they do places book up more. Depending on where you want to stay, some rooms/locations may be sold out.
If BBB is sold out we used this company to do my daughters in our hotel room. They came to the room and did everything there. We had Nikki and Rebecca
This was April last year when BBB was closed but I would probably still do it when we go back in 2024/5 because it was so fun and the kids got tons of stuff to keep like make up a crown a wand a back pack all sorts of cute stuff.
Are you planning on staying on property or off? That makes a difference as well. If staying on property you have more of a chance of getting BBB right off the bat since you can book out 60 days from your first park day. The BBB opens up at midnight, not at 6am, so that's something to keep in mind as well.
The only location open as of right now is the on in Magic Kingdom. While I've never done it for my kids, the people I know who have recommend buying a princess dress before the trip and bringing it with you (it helps save some money).
It's not too early to start booking at all! I am a travel agent, if you want to reach out I'd love to help!

ah crap, Halloween. We went last year in late August and it was already set up for Halloween. Thanks for the reminder. I will probably book today!

thank you! I read about them on reddit I think. I will definitely keep in mind. It does sound a bit easier, and then can do the parks in any way we want and not have to plan MK on that day.

thanks! I didn't realize the Disney Springs location wasn't open yet/still. And thanks for the midnight tip! I don't think we are going to do an agent because we have so many moving parts and I like the flexibility of doing things myself but if I change my mind I will reach out!
You've had some good tips (timing of booking, etc) already! I took DD when she was 6 (pre-covid) and my sis took my niece when we were there in November.
I brought a dress with us at DD's request. She had a dress and accessories she really wanted to wear, so I booked the package that included a shirt, etc., but no dress. She still got to go to a dressing room and put on her dress and all that; the rest of the appointment is the same for all kids. I was willing to buy a dress but was actually completely happy with how this worked out. I just packed the dress and accessories in a gallon ziplock then let her get a few other accessories like a scepter at Sir Mickeys before having pictures done at the photo pass studio next door. Highly recommend doing the photos, the photographer did a wonderful job with DD who was extremely shy at that age.
My sister bought the deluxe dress and unless your DD is REALLY into huge, poofy dresses, I wouldn't do that. She basically wore it long enough to meet up with us to see her in it right after then asked to change out of it. The deluxe dresses are really poofy so a pain to deal with if you have a kid that is wanting to ride things like Space Mountain after their appointment. My sis and BIL ended up having to cart that giant dress around the rest of the day; it was so big that they couldn't fit it in their backpack with anything else in there. My niece is fearless and loves big rides but my own DD probably would have been fine in it at 6 since she would only ride things like Tea Cups and meet princesses. Just depends on your kid!
