Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger, 3* (it was ok, I can see potential in the series so I'm going to try the next book in the series.)
The Perfumist of Paris by Joshi Alka, 3.5* (I was disappointed because this is one of the books I had been looking forward to most this year. It was ok, but not as good as the other books in the trilogy.)
I'm going to start Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers tonight.
Qotw; I guess it would be cheesecake at the moment. Lately I've been making a mini cheesecake for every major holiday.
I’m reading Camp Zero by Michelle Min Sterling. It’s interesting enough but just ok — I want to finish it but I’m never really excited to pic it back up. Usually dystopian/climate future books are up my alley.
QOTW: My family’s many Christmas cookies are my favorite. I’m sure I could make them at other times of the year, but they wouldn’t taste right.
I started The Crossing Place by Elly Griffiths. The series sounded interesting but I gave up after a few chapters. The main character kept going on and on about how fat she was and it was incredibly off-putting.
Next I read Book of Gothel by Mary McMyne. This came highly recommended but I found it just okay. It really didn't match up with the description and there was a bit set in the modern day that just didn't fit.
Finally I started A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher. It's excellent so far, which is a relief!
QOTW: I love having a big roast of any kind with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Still reading Babel, Not Your Basic Love Story, and All My Rage.
QOTW: What is your favorite holiday food? Either a specific dish or the holiday itself. This is a hard one, because I don't think I have a favorite holiday food. Maybe latkes? That's the only food I can think of where "it's not ___ if I don't have ___"
Finished Life's Too Short by Abby Jimenez. It's my favorite of her books I've read! I thought it had a great message and story.
QOTW: Since it's Easter, thinking of these: deviled eggs and the peanut butter chocolate eggs my mom makes (similar to the ones my grandma used to make, which were also delicious). So yummy!
Foster by Claire Keegan 4/5* - I have a ton of curiosity as to why this was published as a novel; it’s really more like a long short story. But it’s a gorgeously-written, incredibly sweet story. I am excited to see a full-length novel by this author.

QOTW: New Year’s beans and greens. Nom.
I don’t think she has written anything longer! I think she is very award winning so they just publish them as-is.
