My nephew and his wife just announced they’re having a baby in September. We’ll see them tomorrow, so I wanted to bring them a gift, but what?
I’d prefer not a gift card, but I’m also sure they haven’t created a registry yet or a nursery “theme”. Any ideas in the $50-$100 range that may be a bit fun but also practical?

I didn’t know that was a gift giving occasion! If you don’t want to get them a gift card and you know them well, I’d get them something you think they’d enjoy. Something edible? Something local that’s relevant? Flowers or a plant. I wouldn’t get them anything baby related, September is awhile away.
I do think flowers would be nice and not a baby item.
I’m going to a gender reveal this weekend and I’m the only one who knows the gender so I got the parents a small gift related to their favorite sports team.
I received a couple small gender neutral gifts early in my pregnancy. One was a Winnie the Pooh (still have it) with a book for the baby. The other was a small plush toy. I also like the idea of something edible.
What about something that they can enjoy now that will be harder after they have the baby? Would they like movie tickets? A nice-ish dinner out (whatever $50-100 gets these days 😭)?
I know I wish I had appreciated my last few months of baby-free life a bit more.
I’ve never heard of a pregnancy announcement gift! I definitely wouldn’t give a baby gift; it’s too soon and could end up being a painful reminder if something goes wrong. I like the idea of a GC for a dinner out before the baby comes. Flowers are nice too, but I would only do that if you’re going to their home. Giving someone flowers while you’re out is kind of odd and inconvenient. Or skip a gift tomorrow and send flowers to their home next week.

Even they’re due the very end of September, theyd be entering into their 2nd trimester and a baby gift is totally ok. I would give a gender neutral baby for outfit or something small now - save the bigger gift for the shower or once they’re registered.
Kohl’s had the “If You Give” book series (if you give a moose a muffin, a mouse a cookie). It comes with a book and a stuffed animal. Really cute. Maybe that and some flowers or cupcakes.
Thanks all! I actually forgot I posted this until now, when I realized I never did get anything!
I know it’s not a typical gift giving time, but I’m excited for them and want to do something small. I actually have to go by our local produce stand on the way to dinner, so hopefully they’ll have some flowers and I can write a note with a $50 bill for them to enjoy a date night prior to the arrival. Then they can spend it however they want, lol.
My youngest still sleeps with her Angel Dear little animal blanket (lots of gender-neutral options. Hers is a lion). she is now 11. lol They are incredibly soft and wash well.
I think you can do that, maybe a gift card for a house cleaning service and a split of champagne and a bottle of sparkling cider.
Oh and I bought my friend a baby sleeper made from bamboo and she loved it. Very, very soft and a lot of stretch which meant it was able to last for quite a while.
