I don't know how to identify what is wrong but on the east side of my yard, there seems to be a disease. Everything starts out nicely in the spring but before fall things will start to dry out and drop leaves, despite care/watering. I have neighbors with some of the same plants that thrive so I know it's not a dry year situation or something.
Two of my trees, burning bush and 2 other shrubs (unidentified) along with day lilies seem affected. I thought the unidentified shrubs were dead but we mulched in the fall and the landscaper said they are living. The woody parts are turning gray/brittle looking. Any ideas what this could be? I know I can pay someone to come look but I'd like to identify it myself if I can so I can research treatments.

Not enough information. Where are you located (zone)? Has any work been done on your property or adjacent properties? What chemicals do you/neighbors use? Images would help, both close-up images of the symptoms and long view of the affected areas, capturing adjacent properties as applicable.
