These large windows are in our family room. We inherited beige wood blinds on them. The windows and trim are all being painted white this week, so we got rid of the beige blinds.
Any suggestions for window coverings? We usually had the wood blinds pulled up well above the center to let in a lot of light. That meant the strings for the blinds either hung down to the floor or I would loop them through the blinds and they just looked sloppy. I’m looking for something with either no strings or something not as visible. Roman shades? Wood blinds without strings (if this exists?)
What do you have in the rest of your house? I like blinds to be somewhat consistent especially between adjoining rooms, so we have the same 2” white faux wood cordless blinds throughout our entire house. But if you liked having blinds but for the hanging cords, then buy cordless versions!

Currently nothing on the whole first floor. All the windows are being painted white so we took down the beige blinds everywhere. I think I will probably do curtains in the living room (faces the street), and whatever I do in the family room will be the same in the office.
Our second floor is a mix of things right now. Our bedroom has blinds, DS1 has curtains, DS2 and the guest bedroom have roman shades. All of them will likely change to whatever we do in the family room, too.
What do you need from your window coverings? Do you need privacy, removal of light, etc? That would inform what to suggest.
We did very occasionally close the blinds all the way for a movie night, but usually they stayed pretty open. We do get the evening sun setting through these windows so it can get a little bright if you are sitting in just the right spot on the couch. In that situation we would close the blinds about halfway in one of the side windows only.
