Our CSA is pretty good about labeling things, but we've been getting these giant zucchini-looking things that aren't labeled. Well, I THOUGHT it was a zucchini, but I've just been giving them to my mom or friends and otherwise not getting around to actually using them. So it's long and green, but some are really big around, like an arm or a loaf of bread, and some are ridged. So today we got one that was actually just a cross-section - it must have been so big that they sliced it to divide it up between share-owners. To my surprise, about half of the inside is pulp and seeds, like a pumpkin. Not like a zucchini. Is it some kind of gourd/squash? Any idea what it's called? I'm so confused.
Regardless of what it turns out to be I'm just going to cube it and cook it with onion and broth and turn it into soup, but I'd love to know what I'm eating.
