Up most of the night with a sick dog, so I thought I’d get this started early. (He’ll be fine, just ate something he shouldn’t have. Wish I could get him to understand cause and effect!)
What have you been reading this week?
QOTW: What are your usual go to bed and wake up times?
Charlatti - sorry to hear your dog is sick. I have been there. My dog has a love for eating any random edible or inedible things she finds on her walks.
I finish Paris Requiem by Chris Lloyd, 2*. I am almost finished with The Golden Doves by Martha Hall Kelly.
QOTW: I am usually in bed by 8:30, but I read until I get tired (around 9:30-10:00). I usually wake up naturally between 4:30 and 5:30 unless I didn't sleep well, then I'll sleep until my alarm.
I haven't played along here in a long time, but I've been into the books I'm reading and listening to lately, so wanted to share.
I recently finished listening Spare by Prince Harry, and while I'm not even a little bit of a "royal watcher," I really enjoyed it. It's obviously very one-sided in terms of the stories he tells about his relationships with his family, and I'd be curious to hear the other side of some of those stories, but overall, it was cool to listen to him tell stories for a while.
I also recently finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. She's like my author of the year so far this year, as I have just been devouring her books. I didn't fall into this one the way I did with Daisy Jones or Malibu Rising, but the more I think about it, the more I really loved it. All I knew going in was it was about an aging movie star with a scandalous love life, and I wasn't expecting it to go the way it did, but I loved it.
Finally, I'm currently listening to Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. I was expecting fluffy romance and it totally delivers. It's not spectacular, and it's pretty predictable, but still a lot of fun to read.
QOTW: I usually go to bed between 10-11, and read til I fall asleep, and my alarm starts around 5:40, and I get up around 6.
Rememberings by Sinéad O'Connor (her childhood was so sad)
Come with Me by Erin Flanagan (ok)
Everything/Nothing/Someone: A Memoir by Alice Carrière (a wild ride)
Scenes of the Crime by Jilly Gagnon (could have been better)
Unraveling: What I Learned about Life While Shearing Sheep, Dyeing Wool, and Making the World's Ugliest Sweater by Peggy Orenstein (disappointing, should have been two separate memoirs)
Crafting Change: Handmade Activism, Past and Present by Jessica Vitkus (cute, nice balance of mediums but no weavers!)
Now I’m trying to read a book by a man and so far it isn’t too horrible.
QOTW:
Normally 11/midnight and then up around 8. Working from home is the best. I have a hard time falling asleep so I’m normally reading a long time after bedtime.
I finished Hello, Beautiful, which I would rate highly for really beautiful writing, but I think family dramas aren’t my thing. I am reading Group now, and I’m a little horrified by the things the therapist says. In the Lives of Robots by TJ Klune is up next.
I typically go to bed at 11:45 and wake up at 6:45 on weekdays. On weekends, bedtime is similar, but I sleep until 8.
Thanks for all the good-pup wishes — he’s doing better. Surely has not learned his lesson, though.
I finished A Sleight of Shadows by Kat Howard, which I really enjoyed but is probably not an objectively amazing book. It’s a sequel, and I liked the first one a lot too — they just both felt like the right story at the right time for me. Now reading Ascension by Nicholas Binge, but I’m not far enough to judge.
QOTW: I’m normally in bed by 9:45, reading until 10 or 10:15, and then I get up at 6. Sometimes on weekends I’ll sleep until 6:30 — wild and crazy! I fall asleep really easily initially but I usually sleep lightly, and then I have a lot of trouble getting back to sleep when something wakes me. Feeling perpetually tired lately.
I read Corridors of the Night (#21 in the series) by Anne Perry. I posted recently that she'd just died so I wanted to read one of her books. It was fine but not great, probably typical of a series that has gotten a bit stale after so many books.
I've got several options for my next book, not sure what I'll pick.
QOTW: I go to bed around 9 but to sleep between 10 and 11. Or at least I try to, I frequently have problems falling asleep. My alarm goes off at 6:45 and it's 50/50 on whether I'm already awake when it does.

I'm so sorry for your sick pup. It's awful because it's not like they understand that they brought this on themselves.
Finished If the Shoe Fits and I really enjoyed it. Cheesy and light, but sometimes you just need junk food!
I am very much not enjoying Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
Started Deep Blue, which is about a mermaid princess who has to find and defeat an assassin. I love the author, but so far I am not impressed with this book. I'm wondering if it's an early one of hers.
QOTW: What are your usual go to bed and wake up times? I'm in bed by 10 and up at 6.

Hope your dog is better now🙏
I’m coming to the end of The Best of Friends by Lucinda Berry. Can’t wait for the ending, this book has been so addicting. Verity is next!
QOTW- I’m bed by 9/9:30 to play games on my iPad or read, then up anywhere from 6-7am for work. Weekends I go to bed around 10-11 and wake up between 6-8:30 depending if my husband works that weekend
