All of my cucumbers and pumpkin have had to be pulled up as they are diseased (I suspect a virus of some sort). All that work to grow them to lovely seedlings. Bah!!!
Hoping that it's not in the soil (I'll be removing some soil, just in case) and that any plants I get from the local garden center will work out. If not, it's going to be a flower garden instead (which I'll find annoying as fuck).

Oh no! I hope the soil is okay. I have never been able to grow stuff from seed but I have bought tomato plants and put them in our planter boxes with great success.
That stinks, sorry. I'm all for just buying the seedlings from the garden center. So much easier! Same result in the end.
Some vine-y crops like those are very prone to powdery mildew by late summer (here), which looks awful but may not affect your crop if it happens late.
Pumpkins take up TONS of room, FYI!!!! And they really need full sun. We grew them a couple of times. Last year, they were more shaded than in the past, and it made a huge difference. Took way longer to get going.

Joining in on the gardening "arghs," I bought a pretty pricey lilac plant online. I did all the things you're supposed to do to transplant it -- soaked it, put root thrive in, etc. The next day my dog had dug it entirely up and tossed it next to the giant hole! She doesn't usually dig in the garden except for the time she dug up all my crocus bulbs. I think she thinks I'm burying bones or something. :-P I replanted it so here's hoping it survives the trauma.
dr.girlfriend, I've experienced that 'argh' before. Hope it recovers!
nicolewi, I think I'm just going to do this in the future. I don't have a ton of space to grow things indoors, so it'd be easier not to take over the little space we have.
