We are redoing a very small full bath. Here is the moodboard:
And here's how it's actually looking so far (niche and bathroom floor still need to be grouted):
I am desperate for storage, so in addition to the small mirrored medicine cabinet I am installing this cabinet that looks like a picture frame kind of high up on one wall. I am going to get a matching frame to hang next to it and a little lower so it doesn't look so weird perched up in an odd spot.
What kind of art would you do here? I would have room for two prints up to 8x10. I feel like a floral would be too much, but am not sure what would really "go" with the somewhat eclectic choices so far. The bathroom floor tile was a last-minute sub for something more 1920s looking. The shower wall tile has a sort of seashell-feel because the tiles are textured and some of them have like a silver iridescence to them.
Do you have any travel pictures you would want to frame, maybe in the colors similar to the bathroom colors, or at least complimentary? I have some architectural detail pics I took on a Victorian House tour in SF years ago in frames in our guest bathroom that I love. In another bathroom I bought the basic prints of two different tree leaves, so not quite floral. In the kids bathroom, I did a loose science theme and got prints of some of the nebula images.
Etsy is a good place for inspiration. With your colorful tile, maybe water colors of nature, animals or birds? Prints or pieces of something that looks like a section of William morris wallpaper? Geometric line work drawings.
Ha, I was actually looking at a lot of dog art, I think partly because the sample photos have dogs! Only we have one dog now, and we had two before, and I don't know which one I would leave out. :-)
In the end for now I've ordered prints of my kiddo at the beach, but in 5 x 7 with an 8 x 10 mat so they don't look so overwhelming in the small space. We'll see if it flies, though, because he's a teenager now and may not want photos of his little kid self in there. :-)
