I DNF'd A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn. I'm currently reading A Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi. I'll probably finish it tonight. It's looking like it will be a 5* book.
Qotw: I'm looking forward to spending time at the lake with my family. It's also our first full summer at our new house so I look forward to exploring our new surroundings with the kids.
Rootless by Krystle Zara Appiah (unexpected downer)
The Dig by Anne Burt (not great!)
How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff (expected downer)
QOTW:
I’m looking forward to doing more crafting outside! My indoor space is limited and kind of dark. I’m taking a 3 day course early June and I hope that will give me some good ideas!
I read I Have Some Questions For You. I wasn't sure what to think going into it since people seem to love it or hate it. I also expected it to be just another thriller. Overall I really enjoyed it although I think it could have been shorter. I also found the long lists of "It was the one..." annoying but I get the point she was trying to make.
I just started The Ferryman by Justin Cronin last night. It's too soon for me to really have an opinion but it seems promising.
QOTW: We're going to my family's cottage for Memorial Day and the 4th and then to Colorado in August!
I’m reading The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, which is excellent. I was hesitant to start ti right now because it’s so very long, but it’s worth it.
QOTW: summer is my favorite, so everything. We have a NYC trip coming up soon, which will be the highlight. Summer festivals are always fun too.
travella and charlatti - Nadia Hashimi and Abraham Verghese - two of my favorite physician authors! I emailed briefly with Nadia when she ran for Congress around here, too bad she didn’t get further! I just put each of their latest books on hold so thanks for the reminder.
I started I Have Some Questions for You but I’m not sure I’m in the mood for it.
Summer is my favorite time of year. There will be some weekend trips for finishing up my aunt’s estate, a bridal shower, class reunion, hopefully a smaller mini trip with just my husband, and then a week with the kids somewhere near my sister.
I am reading Chain Gang All Stars. It is not for the faint of heart (brutal violence), but a good searing takedown of the private prison industry.
Just finished Falling by TJ Newman and read it all in one sitting because I wanted to know what happened.
I can’t remember if it was this week or last week, but I loved Homegoing.
QOTW: We have a pool and I am really looking forward to swimming after work with the kids most nights. We also have a trip planned to northern Minnesota that I’m excited about. We love hiking to waterfalls.

Finished The Salt Grows Heavy and The Deep. Both were good and I enjoyed them.
Started Christina Henry's "The Mermaid" which is like The Little Mermaid meets The Greatest Showman - mermaid goes on land for man, and after he dies, she becomes part of PT Barnum's American Museum.
QOTW: What are you looking forward to this summer? Both my kids are going to sleepaway camp, which means I'll get to take my first kid-free vacation since I've been a mom!
