There's speculation that the wildfire smoke particles from Canada that are effecting our air quality is weighing down the moths causing them to stay longer. Also, they seem to be having trouble navigating cause they can't see the stars. LINK

Affected before they got to CO? Or preventing them as they move north? Currently the aqi is either in healthy range or only moderately bad (40-80ish), but I haven't looked at recent history. Or maybe the moths are just that sensitive. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
I got a 404 from your link. I'm just kind of obsessed with tracking aqi in various places after having lived in a place where seasonally we'd top the global charts for a solid few months, upwards of 500 often.

Canadian wildfire smoke has settled over the front range. As in, I haven't been able to see the foothills, and I'm right up against them. AQI hovered around 150+ for several days.
bee20 , we've had the Canadian smoke off and on here in New England which is so far away. It is very high level, so doesn't affect the AQI. But it hazes over the sky in a way that freaks me out. We have enough light for shadows but the sky is a weird, hazy, yellow/grey color. It gives me low level anxiety and I hate it. I don't ever remember this happening until the last few years.

OK. That I can see being a problem. Usually that's when I'd start masking. I imagine moths are more sensitive due to navigational needs.

that's interesting info. I'll just be glad when the moths are gone - I will say we have less this week than we did last week. but the air quality - not sure if it's the smoke or it really is overcast is crappy...

The moths have been wild! Very interesting that they are impacted by the smoke. Hopefully it keeps raining (both here and in Alberta) to help clear the air.
I don't see 2nd worst in the linked article from your link. I heard in the "unhealthy" category from an anchor which is 151-200.
I'm not downplaying how awful that quality is. I'd definitely mask if I absolutely had to be outside, and I wouldn't be outside for sports for sure, and use a purifier inside. If this were just a month or two ago, that wouldn't break top 10. Unfortunately and sadly.

It's in the second paragraph.
"Last week, Denver was second in the world with the worst air quality. This week, the city is starting off in the number 16 position."
I saw the statement and clicked on the link under that statement. I was expecting a link to the raw data, not another article and clip that did not make that claim. That's all.
Unhealthy is unhealthy. That's bad. It's going to fuck with people and animals.
