Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Of course, it's entirely hypocritical. That's the GQP way. I read an op-ed that this is likely more because of political rivalry between him and Lt Gov Patrick. That makes more sense than them being so offended by any misconduct.
The whole GQP klan are traitorous shitbags. But he deserves it. However, you are right, it's rivalry, not some sense of holding him to a higher standard.
I somehow got on a list where I get a lot of random political texts. This text I got on Friday makes more sense lol but they’re blaming democrats
“Hi, this is Anna with Defend Texas Liberty. Democrats have teamed up with liberal speaker Dade Phelan to rush through a last-minute impeachment of our conservative Attorney General Ken Paxton.
This is a backroom attempt to undermine the election results, just like the sham impeachment of Donald Trump. The Texas Senate can stop this right now.
Please call your Senator and tell his office to stop this madness and end this witch hunt.
Call (512) 881-8522 and tell Senator Hancock to STOP the impeachment.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I’m sure this will be messy but I’m enjoying it anyways. Paxton is freaking evil. He needs to go. The house actually came out against him pretty convincingly. We will see.
I think (but am willing to be corrected) that it's a combining of GOP + Q Anon
Yep. I and others use it to denote anyone who spouts stolen election and other q anon conspiracies. Honestly, that's most of them now. They're certainly the loudest, and not many other party members are speaking out against them.
The local short story I keep hearing is that impeachment came after he tried to get taxpayers to pay the fine imposed on him for firing all his staff whistleblowers.
Of course, it's also an interesting coincidence that he calls for Phelan's resignation for being drunk on the job and this comes immediately after. Is it tit-for-tat, or was he trying to discredit Phelan (more than the guy did himself) because he knew the call for his impeachment was coming?
Zoom in: Two-thirds of the Senate, where Republicans hold a 19-12 majority, is needed to remove Paxton from office permanently.
The intrigue: Paxton's wife, Angela Paxton (R-McKinney), is a senator — and some of the charges that Ken Paxton misused his office involve finding employment for a woman with whom he was allegedly having an extramarital affair.
Texas AG Ken Paxton’s upcoming impeachment trial in the Texas state Senate will include evidence that he used a fake Uber account to hid visits to his mistress as well as burner phones and secret personal email addresses.
