We haven't had ones of these in a while so I am starting a thread before I forget.
We're supposed to go see a revival showing of Aliens tonight. It's one of my favorite movies but it doesn't start until 9pm so I am not sure whether I'll be able to drag myself out of the house.
A local museum has a new Jim Henson exhibit and I just bought tickets for their upcoming Labyrinth & The Dark Crystal trivia event.

I have reached the "having nightmares" stage of homebuying/selling. I had nightmares last night that the ceiling of our current house (that we're getting ready to list) caved in and there was water damage everywhere somehow. Meanwhile on the buying side, I'm googling what happens if sellers don't make repairs stipulated in the contract before the closing date, because that might be a real scenario we're looking at. These people have been very frustrating to deal with.

We had the house re-inspected today for issues that the sellers told us had been fixed. The issues are not fixed. So they straight up lied to us. I officially hate these people.

Oh god. I am sorry. House buying and selling have been some of the most miserable periods of our lives. We moved often there for a while. Sending you survival vibes.
The weather here in Michigan has been fantastic. I’d rather be goofing off instead of doing projects. Mr Pom got Covid due to his company’s crappy policies, so we are further behind than planned as of June 1.
I'm tired of the constant threat of hail, here. As any Coloradoan will say, "We need the moisture," from the storms we've been getting, BUT why with the hail all the time?

I'm apparently reliving the mid-80s over here.
I saw the exhibit at its home museum, the Museum of the Moving Image, and it was great!
I wish it was just Muppet trivia! The night sounds fun but my Labyrinth/Dark Crystal knowledge is weak.
One of my best friends is visiting for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. She probably won't get here until midnight due to flight delays, but I have wine and snacks waiting for when she arrives. We have a lot of fun plans- see some shows, eat at nice restaurants, and stay overnight at a nice hotel on Saturday night. And now we can relax knowing the debt ceiling bill has passed. :-)

The sellers are now claiming everything is fixed for real this time, and I'm having trouble believing them since they've shown they have no problem lying to us. If they managed to find a licensed plumber to come fix everything in less than 24 hours then that's impressive. I am skeptical.
Just one more week of dealing with these people...
I found random mystery blood on the floor today. I checked the dogs and kid several times and couldn't find anything. I finally found a small cut on one of the dogs' ears. Geez.

It’s surprising how much an ear can bleed! A couple of months ago my dog, Buddy, cut his ear on a rose bush and it was just gushing blood from the tiniest cut

A few months ago two of our cats were playing a bit rough. All of a sudden there's blood everywhere because black cat clawed (or bit maybe - we didn't see it happen) orange cat on the tip of his ear. And of course it hurts, so he's shaking his head and splattering blood all over.
Holding an upset cat still long enough to stop the bleeding was fun 🙃

it's very very smoky here today- which is very unusual for this area. i am not sure if it is the MI or Canadian wildfires giving us all the smoke/haze.
we need rain too. i'm currently on day 8 of having the top and doors off my Jeep and that is the longest i have ever gone, and i most likely can finish out the week and most of the weekend.

If you're in NY (and not merely a fan of buffaloes) it is from Canada. We're getting the wildfire haze and smell in NYC today. Had to cancel my lunchtime walk today because of it.

I'm so mad that event and every other special event that looks cool related to it is on my chronically unavailable day of the week. STUPID THURSDAYS. but thank you for letting me know this is happening because now I know I need to go see the exhibit at least.

I was just at the hair salon and had to listen to the woman next to me go on and on about her divorce and OMG I don't know now hairdressers do it. After 5 minutes I was ready to butt in and tell her that it's blatantly obvious that she actually, contrary to her belief, she does, in fact, need both a lawyer and a therapy. But the poor hairstylist was "mmhmm" ing her way through it.

OMG, a hairstylist I could use! Oh how I’d love to go somewhere where mmhmm was the most they said.
MH and I finished the Tour De France documentary on Netflix last night and it was excellent. We're very much the target audience but I highly recommend if you have even a passing interest in cycling. Or French scenery. Or baby goats!
Ok, the goats were only in one episode but damn were they cute! We watched it in (mostly) French with subtitles but there's dubbing available.

I bring a book and have my hair done in blissful silence every 7 weeks. One of my girlfriends thinks its SO rude but I just can't make 90 minutes of small talk each time and I'm hoping she likes the break herself.
Does anybody else quietly keep score when contributing to potlucks? Like whoever's food just GOES clearly wins potluck, right? Is this weird? (last one I went to I was in charge of the hot dogs and hamburgers so that wasn't exciting. person who brought mac n' cheese won potluck that time. I think every single person took some and the pan was empty halfway through the first wave)
How do you decide how much food to bring? what's your math on servings?
I came in here with something else entirely to say and totally forgot what the heck it was. so instead you get potluck musings.

My salon recently posted that they encourage “silent appointments” anytime someone needs/wants one. They said to just let the stylist know. One of the stylists has a sign, I think, that you can just flip. It’s not rude and no one is offended. (In fact, I would guess that stylists appreciate it every once in awhile!)

Absolutely I keep score.
For amount I bring one recipe of whatever, and that whatever is usually casserole or crockpot sized.

we went to a potluck this weekend and there was an amazing tomato salad that I declared the winner of the potluck. It was gone in like 30 minutes. SO good.
