I’m curious to read the dissent (or, rather, read someone else’s summary of their dissent as I get lost in legalese). I wonder if they dissent on a technicality or if they feel like it should be allowed.

I remember a theory being floated that if SCOTUS embraced the Republican’s position of an “independent state legislature theory” that it would be Hillary Clinton’s fault. Something like, she ‘warned them’, so she gave them the idea??

THANK GOD
Their recent gerrymandering rulings hinted that they would decide this way. I'm happy they didn't go full insane here.
I am 100% sure they will void student debt relief unfortunately. And there's a NRA case, correct? Both of those rulings will suck. At least we got this.

Unless it's not considered a "major" case, I don't see a gun/NRA case left.
Gift link - The "major" cases left are about Affirmative Action, student loan debt relief, religious accommodations re: work schedules, and some free speech nonsense like the gay wedding cake baking saga, except with a website instead of a cake.

Thanks, not sure what I was thinking of.
So student loan relief and AA will definitely be gone, that's a given. I haven't heard much of the other major issue ones.

So what happy to debts that have already been forgiven?
The student loan relief in question hasn't had any debts forgiven yet. This is the one the Biden administration was going to give everyone, not just public sector workers.

I don't think it's as cut and dry that student loan debt relief is off the table. The issue of standing seems to be something the conservative judges won't give to the plaintiffs.

Can you expand a bit? I’ve heard so little of this lately and didn’t even realize that a decision was coming this week. I’ve Always just expected the worst, so any glimmer of hope is welcome!
