I teach HS history and I'm trying to even figure out how one would teach it properly without discussing race.

Like a straight forward abd appropriate assessment prompt would be to explain the specific historic context which lead to this event and students wouldn't even be able to answer it.

You literally cannot teach the Tulsa RACE Massacre with the attacks on BLACK Wall Street without discussing the racial elements. Which, I assume, is the point...you can't teach it.

That isn't the goal. Teach it poorly so the warped version will be the first, level setting one kids hear - setting them up to be less open and more skeptical when they do hear the truth.
