It took me almost two months to finish this project but the result is wonderful. I must have restarted it over 20 times before I got the hang of it, but once I figured it out it was not too bad. When I was done I added an i-cord edging to the outside.

Captain Catnip, it's really not that scary once you get the hang of it. The brioche itself is not that hard (see Stephen West's Youtube videos), but the increases and decreases of this pattern were more difficult and especially hard to correct if miscounted.
That is absolutely beautiful! I haven't yet tried brioche although I have the perfect yarn for something like this. Was the pattern easy to follow?
Thanks! I thought it was easy to follow once I had it figured out. Let me know if you want to try it, you can always send me a DM. Make sure the yarn is not too slippery, most acrylics won't work, and that they have the same weight obviously.
that's beautiful! And it's absolutely my toxic trait that I'm still struggling my way through my second ever pair of socks, but now have this saved on Ravelry for like...when I actually get good at knitting? (I've also got a huge number of cabled and lace sweaters. because...life is long and I'll get there eventually?)

I haven't tried socks yet. Do you use double pointed needles for those? I just have circular needles. I haven't done cables yet either, though I did just buy some cable needles. I am just starting a new sweater which I think will be a PITA but it looks so beautiful. I am making it a size bigger than I think I'll need but I hope it will not be too big. I spent way too much money on the yarn at my local knitting store. Hopefully I will only need about half the yarn and I can make it in a size smaller if it is too big.
This is the sweater (Spector from Joji Locatelli)
And this is the yarn I bought (I actually got 2 of each of these). Good thing it was my birthday

Oh that yarn is BEAUTIFUL. worth it.
I use the magic loop method for socks. The idea of DPN's just seemed so confusing in my brain for my first pair, but magic loop on a long circular made perfect sense to me. I think now that I have a better grasp on the whole thing I could do DPNs, but magic loop means I can do two at a time, so I don't have lonely sock UFOs just wandering around (which I absolutely would). and I specifically wanted to use socks as my purse project, and I coudln't figure out how you put DPNs in a bag without high probability of mishaps.

wawa, thanks! I thought the yarn was divine as well. I guess that's why I bought 8 skeins of it. If I don't use it all maybe I can make some socks too since it says it is also considered sock yarn. I'll see how it goes. Right now I am working on the neckline with the top color and while it seems to be a solid color there are variations in there which makes it have interesting lines. I have to learn to make a bud stitch in this pattern and how to blend the yarn when changing colors.
