This is scary. An architect, living out in plain sight, just mixed in among us. Someone you wouldn't look at twice walking down the street. I hope they have the person responsible and that the families get some answers.

I am so glad they finally caught him.
****PDQ****
My friend worked with him for years, and was often alone with him at sites together. To say she is freaked the fuck out is an understatement. He never seemed like someone capable of this to her though, so he never did anything bad in her presence.
I couldn't find it in the article, but maybe I missed it, but how did they catch him?
The article has one sentence " In 2020, they found a belt with initials that may have been handled by the suspect and launched a website to collect new tips in the investigation. " I went to google and I don't think any other information has been released about how they linked him to the murders, because that seems to be all the articles I found were saying about it.
Has anyone found why the case was cold for 10 years? In 2022, they release a pic of what they thought was his belt? Did they always have it or did they find it 10 years later? I’m just confused because it was 10 years ago and not 50. We had technology and DNA back then so why did it take so long?

I have to go back into reading the details but I got the sense from initial readings that it wasn’t a priority for investigators. It wasn’t until they got a new commissioner a couple of years ago that they put together a task force and whaddaya know, they got relatively quick results after that. I know there are claims that they didn’t have enough to go on but based on what they knew 10+ years ago, I feel like almost anyone else would have been at least questioned or something.

Right. I mean they have a belt. DNA wasn’t really that far behind 10 years ago. How awful for the families.
he wasn't a particularly talented or artistic architect based on his website - pretty humdrum corporate stuff mostly.
Architect checking in. I work in corporate, too. It a pretty varied industry in terms of type of work and income. I have a very boring suburban house!
Their house was not in good shape though. I don't believe every architect needs an aesthetically-perfect home, but based on reports his was basically in the same condition of the house that used to be around the corner from me that we'd refuse to trick-or-treat at because it looked like the Unabomber's house.
