Heading to the Great Smokey Mountains to meet up with Ds for the weekend. We plan on doing the touristy things since both kids will be with us. Hopefully Dh and I can get in a hike. Dd's main itinerary is shopping while Ds's is eating all the things. Hopefully a little balcony sitting and wine in my future tonight. We head back Monday afternoon.
DD1 comes home tomorrow after 4 weeks away at camp! I'm excited to see her. Tonight we are taking DD2 out to dinner to celebrate her last day as an "only", then we are staying up late to watch the US vs Vietnam World Cup game.
DD1 will be home tomorrow at around noon. We will take her to her favorite place for lunch, and then really play it by ear. She is usually just so exhausted and takes a bit to reacclimate after camp.
Sunday I may invite my parents, sisters, nieces, nephews over to cook out and swim and see DD1. I'm going to wait and see how she feels. I'm looking forward to the weekend!
We have a busy and fun weekend planned. My nieces are still with us and my SIL will be here tomorrow with the littles to visit and then take them home. H and I are planning a cookout to send them off. Tonight I’ll get a cake and we’ll celebrate the oldest’s birthday as well.
Early Sunday DD1 and I are committed to a couple hours of volunteer work cleaning up a lake via our kayaks. That should be a hoot. Then we’ll come home, hose off, grab H and DD2 and head across town for a friend’s pool party. They celebrate their two oldest kids’ birthdays every year with an epic pool party and it’s also become ab unofficial “end of summer” kind of thing since school starts up again shortly. The dad makes a heck of a Tom Collins too.

DS comes home tonight after two weeks with his dad. I'm so excited. But we don't have any plans yet this weekend. We haven't seen my parents in a while, so that will probably be on our list.
Beau and I were going to see SIL and her crew one last time tonight before they go home. But we just found out BIL tested positive for covid, so that plan is off. He's been at a work conference this past week and we think it's from that since no one else in the family is showing any signs or issues. But, just to play it safe, I cancelled my plan to go meet my BFF's newborn tomorrow too. Right now my only plans are to get ahead on some homework since my latest class just started. We may go into the city on Sunday for a date day, but we haven't decided yet.
Kids just got home from a week at MIL's and I'm so happy to have them back. DD2 has a bday party tomorrow, then we have a soccer game tomorrow night. Talking about something for DH's birthday on Sunday (he wants to go to a brewery; kids pushing for Barbie and Top Golf so we'll see if we can do all)
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We’ve currently been potty training DS3 for like 6 hours and seem to be making progress. Fingers crossed he catches on fast.
Yesterday afternoon, DS1 and I picked DD up at sleepaway camp, and then the whole family went over to dinner and swimming at DD’s softball friend’s house. This morning was laundry and packing and then I just dropped my parents, DD, and DS1 off at the airport to head to the east coast (back home for my parents). They’ll hang with my parents, sister, BIL and kids for 4 nights and then DH flies there Wednesday to take them to see his side of the family. This was our solution for this summer after last summer’s trip to see his family, when I took the time off and paid for and flew with everyone including toddler boys just to have MIL complain the whole time. I was not doing that again
I’m trying to just hang at home and potty train this weekend. DS2 asks me every two minutes when we can go somewhere.
We picked the kids up from sleepaway camp yesterday also. DD had a World Cup viewing party. I guess we all could have gone to the party, but the location of the camp is far away and the driving is a lot, so we were too tired. DS was too tired to do his horseback riding lesson.
Today we rested up and did tons of smelly wet laundry from their camp. Maybe we’ll do something more adventurous tomorrow but for today we just wanted to chill.
Friday was all about DD. 7:30am private gymnastics lesson followed with a trip out to ride and I got baby time. Then we went to the library and had a late lunch/dinner before DD went to open gym at 6:30. Saturday we went and watched a double header softball game and the came home and crashed. Sunday is house chores and laundry. DH is paintballing all weekend.
