Tony Bennett died.

He was 96. 

I saw him in concert twice, such an amazing singer.

So sad. I have never seen him in concert, but I did watch some of the concerts he and Lady Gaga did, and it was just so sweet.

This news made me way more sad than I would've expected. I really liked Tony Bennett, but didn't think his music held any particular special place in my heart.

My mom LOVES both Lady Gaga and K.D. Lang and has seen them both in concert multiple times so by default she has seen a lot of Tony Bennett. It's always been "music that sounds like it should be playing softly in the background at a slightly stuffy but very nice cocktail bar" to me. He sounds like velvet drapes and and heavy glasswear and softly clinking silverwear.

Which is for sure a vibe, but not typically my vibe.

A loss for many, but he sure packed a lot into those 96 years.
