A man was sentenced to 40 years after a prison escape in MS, 4 months prior to his release date after serving a 7 year sentence.
As I read an article initially about this last night nothing stood out until I got to the part that the man was 21 years old. He has already served 7 years in prison at 21 y/o. His initial charge was aggravated assault. He obviously now has picked up an escape charge and held 3 people hostage after escaping then stole their car. So violent incidents for both charges. Bit I can't get over this man has been in prison since he was 14 and will now be there into his 60's. Somewhere he was failed.
I wouldn't doubt that he escaped to be able to stay in prison - a guy like that is totally institutionalised. And yes, he was failed when he was young.
