Is this is a surprise to Canadians? Just curious because I opened up some pop culture discussion boards and it seems like this was expected (along with other gossip) but you know how pop culture fans can be lol.
Velar Fricative, I pay 0% attention to pop culture stuff or any speculation about relationship status so if there were hints of it coming I completely missed it. I guess I was surprised? If they were going to separate, I would have expected them to do so quietly after Trudeau is out of office, whenever that might be.
I'm surprised they didn't wait until he was out of office, although maybe this suggests the Liberals want him to run again?
I guess I'm not totally surprised by the separation itself, but more because I imagine having a spouse as a high profile politician would take an incredible toll on even the best marriages.
Their public relations team did good work dropping the news immediately after Trump got charged with more stuff.
Do you think Trudeau and Trump are in cahoots?
I think she means that it’s PR 101 to drop bad news when the world is focused on something else. It’s also why a lot of publicly-traded companies release stock-moving announcements on Friday at 4pm ET (i.e. right at market close.)
I feel like it’s been common knowledge that they’ve been living apart for a few years. I’m guessing Sophie has a reason for wanting to make it official now. I’m theory, Trudeau could be PM indefinitely. It’s not as simple as US president terms.
