You know how you don’t get a head to the chair? Don’t fight people.
If I’m in a fight, there will be no fighting fair, especially when I didn’t start it. A chair to your head while you’re on the ground? Yep, watch your head bitch!
I've been deep into the Battle of Montgomery TikTok and have to say it's glorious. Most of it is humorous takes by Black TikTok-ers but there have been some pointed explanation of how the fight ended with white people being hauled off to jail and not a single Black person killed. Think about that. Every time we see confrontation between racist yt folk and Black people, the ending is almost always tragic for Black folks and in this case it wasn't.
I also feel like this is the slap back on so many white tropes when Black folk are targeted for harassment, like: 1. Follow the rules --- the white boat owners were breaking the rules egregiously 2. Don't start none, won't be none --- clearly we all saw who started it 3. Try that in a small town --- and get your ass whooped by a folding chair
I think my favorite moment is when the whole boat that's trying to dock starts singing, "MOVE bitch, get out the way; get out the way, bitch; get out the way!"
For me it's definitely the chair on that bitch in the red dress.
I don’t know what this says about me, but I’m ok with the chair Use and I don’t condone violence usually and it makes me nauseous.
Their group took on a man 4:1. The injuries he could have sustained are not ones I want to think about. If you are hanging out there in the midst of the chaos, and maybe took part in it, you might end up on the receiving end of a chair.
I also have zero sympathy for drunk dumbasses. Especially racist ones.
And I do have to chuckle at the comment upthread asking how these guys thought it was ok to get drunk on a boat and do this. It’s pretty standard frat boy I own a boat boat behavior.
I think that they definitely had a lot of shit coming to them. I'm not gonna judge drawing the line in a different place than I did.
And also ditto the lololol that people aren't out and about drunk on boats every sunny weekend day of the summer. I have a lot of stories.
I mean, they definitely are and I'm sure this is a huge part of why there are news stories every weekend with people dying on our two local lakes. It's fucking bananas how normal this is.
whelp. As somebody who sometimes ties a boat up in places...I really want to know how the heck they ended up tied up there in the first place. Like...they've got their canvas cover on and everything. that takes a minute. they didn't come up, tie and jaunt off before somebody could say something to them. I think the kid(? young and ineffective looking adult?) standing there all namby pamby in the life vest is probaly the dock minder and I have to wonder what his role in all this is. Did he tell them not to dock there? were they supposed to just be there for a minute and didn't come back in time?? Not that there's any universe in which these punch throwing asswagons (JUST MOVE YOUR FUCKING BOAT!!!) are in the right, but I'm nosy and want to know the details of how we got here in the first place. Like, even if you think you were allowed to dock there and are embarassed to be told otherwise - just leave the rest of your party on land, hop in, cast off, and putt putt out into the river out of the way and then figure out where to tie up again afterward, THERE'S AN ENTIRE RIVERBOAT STARING AT YOU. MOVE.
It looks like this dock allows for private boats to tie up, but not in the river boat's space. I can't read the signs here, but I'd bet 100000000 internet dollars that they say something along the lines of "RESERVED - no dockage between these signs"
One of the links here said that before the co-captain took a small vessel over to move the pontoon, that the captain was on the PA for 45 minutes asking them to move their boat and they were yelling obscenities back. I’m betting they were putting on the cover as this was happening and then just moseyed on over to the other boat to finish partying.

I can’t remember the site, but one article I read said they have trouble keeping the signs up. They either blow away or are stolen. In this instance, there were no signs.

The person in the vest was ID'd as a 16 yo old employee who transported the riverboat captain to the dock. So he's a minor with no authority and wasn't present when the pontoon docked
"and a 16-year-old white male juvenile who was “struck by the owners and operators of the private boat.” The teenager was an employee on the smaller vessel that took Pickett to the dock"
Yes, apparently the black man who was initially attacked was the co-captain of The Harriet. The pontoon boaters had been refusing to move for 45 minutes and took off after being told repeatedly they needed to move.
Also, it’s speaks volumes that they managed to break up the fight and arrest people without killing anyone. The police were outnumbered and the scene was chaos. I have lots of thoughts on why this is, but I’ll admit I know nothing of the local police force.

Yeah, the white women who was hit with a chair was down. However, after watching other clips from footage taken from The Harriet, she was seen several other times being knocked onto her ass and getting back up to join in the fray again. Including one time with the white women in blue actually tried to push her back down to not get up again.
Personally, I wouldn’t have hit her with the chair once the police were on the scene but before that 🤷🏻♀️ I can’t get upset that it happened under any circumstance. I’m not a violent person, but I’m not above violence.

Ahhh, that explains why he's just hovering around the edges during the intital confrontation/attack. What a day of work for a kid. Thanks for correcting my speculation.
I'd like to see charges for the chic in purple. She snuck in a couple times to kick the co-caption in the head or attempt a sucker punch. I wouldn't have been upset if she got the blunt end of a chair or tossed in the river.
The captain called into a local radio station to give his point of view. He stated that these people "had a history of causing problems on the Riverfront."
