Apparently he’s been posting threats for years. I’d like to better understand why FB sends people to FB jail for reasons that aren’t anywhere near as bad as threatening to assassinate people. But this dude can post away.

TBF, we don't know how many times his account has been suspended, nor how many times he's recreated it.

ETA: and per the article FB seems to have been the one that reported it to the FBI.

This is huge local news here, and it's very upsetting to see how many comments/Tweets about this story are defending the guy as just an old man who of course wasn't serious at all when he posted those things. The anti-government undercurrent is getting a lot stronger with that crowd.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't increasingly nervous about threats of violence as an educator and Democrat in Utah, to say nothing of how anxious I am for my LGBTQ+ kid.

If this happened to my friend of 40 years my mind would be racing and I’d be in some sort of state of shock too. But I just don’t understand denying that he could ever act on the kinds of messed up posts he’s written for years. But, I guess as said above that anti-government undercurrent is strong and they were all probably nodding along to his posts because they were just “harmless” posts.

Agreed. Some of my favorite news sources are always in fb jail for actually reporting on news. It's better than a musk platform, but not by a large degree.

My first thought is that this is the kind of person I'm sometimes called to deal with. Thank goodness if I do, there's a lot of support with me. Also, for all the people dating he wouldn't do it, reportedly he had a gun. I know the people saying he wouldn't act in it weren't here. But this shit is scary. There are too many people who think like he does.
