I just finished The Cloisters. Meh. It was kind of a dark and moody book, which was the best thing about it, but the plot was weak.
I’m also listening to Surrender by Bono of U2. This is the best format for this book. I’m enjoying the cadence of his voice, some of the insight and going back and listening to the albums as he covers them.
QOTW: I do enjoy playing games, but we never seem make it a priority. We play something a few times and then forget about any games for awhile. I also think DH is a reluctant game player. I like board games mostly. Ticket to ride is probably my favorite in recent memory. I also like uno and sorry with the kids, and like sequence but can’t get others to play with me often. We played one last night that SIL got for my kids called Really Loud Librarians. It was fun but I think you need at least 3 people on each team to really make it run well.
I started and gave up on a couple of books this week, so now reading another Michael Connelly, The Brass Verdict. Reliably interesting and page-turner-y.
QOTW: I like card games and fast-moving board games. Strategy games usually feel too slow to me. We don’t play games much these days, mostly on vacation.

Currently reading Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass series). I'm really enjoying the writing in this one!
QOTW: We have a couple friend groups we like to do game night with, though they've been rarer lately. But we will play all sorts of games. We recently played Doomlings and we all loved it! Mysterium, Avalon/Resistance (same idea, different setting), and I can't think of the rest of my favorites at the moment!
I have been in a major reading slump this week. I just started Going Zero, about government surveillance and a contest to see who can avoid being captured. Hopefully that will break the reading blahs.
QOTW: H and I play Triominos sometimes. The kids and I play Uno and Tenzi a lot. We used to do game nights with friends, but with easy/quick games like Apples to Apples and Trivial Pursuit. I have never tried a really involved strategy game.
The Centre by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi (fun but I was expecting a bigger twist)
Time's Mouth by Edan Lepucki (good but we didn’t need the man’s POV chapters)
The Many Lives of Mama Love: A Memoir of Lying, Stealing, Writing, and Healing by Lara Love Hardin (had some holes)
This Bird Has Flown by Susanna Hoffs (eh)
Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth (fun)
None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell (fun)
The Night it Ended by Katie Garner (too many twists!)
QOTW: we have a lot of games! We play them pretty regularly and have these movie marathon theme weekends where we pair movies with games and food so we have some odd ones lol
I've been reading Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I'm really enjoying it!
QOTW: We go through phrases where we'll play games regularly and then fall out of the habit. Skip-Bo is a classic and A Little Wordy is a newer favorite that's quick and great for 2 players.

Finished The Bostonians, The Last Word, and Donut Fall in Love. I found The Bostonians to be more misogynistic than satirical, but maybe it just didn't age well. I enjoyed both romcoms and thought they were great light fluffy summer reads.
I started Funny You Should Ask which is like a combo of the above two romcoms since it's about a Hollywood star and a celebrity journalist.
QOTW: Do you enjoy playing games? How often do you play, if you do, and what are your favorites? (Thinking board games, card games, etc.) I do enjoy playing games, but I'm not terribly competitive unless we're playing Mille Bourne which is my favorite card game. Life is my favorite board game and my eldest just got into it so we've been playing it a lot lately. We do game night every Thursday night.
