Outlander fans - a question (no spoilers)

H and I are watching Outlander. I am also reading the books, but am staying behind the tv show so as not to spoil things for me before I watch with H.

That worked well through the first five seasons, but I learned (by reading) that book 6 actually covered season 6 and the first few episodes of season 7 of the show.

I have seen that season 7 is supposed to cover books 7 and 8. Now that the mid season finale has aired am I safe to read book 7? Or have we not reached the end of it yet? I don’t want to Google because I don’t want to be spoiled and I have been accidentally spoiled in the past by googling timeline related things so I just don’t google anything about it anymore.

I commented a couple day ago, but I guess it didn't post. I watch Outlander and have read all the books, but I don't recall where all the books leave off, so I am no help. Sorry.

I have read all the books but haven't been watching the show. So I googled it for you since I can't be spoiled, and from what I have read it looks like it's not safe yet. So I would suggest hold off on reading book 7 until the entire season 7 is over.
