1. I did a great job planning camps this summer for the kids. The horseback riding lessons and one of the camps was like getting concert tickets, that is how fast it sells out.
2. Our new patio especially when the weather is nice. The block party was fun as was the sushi lunch with my friend.
Unfortunately, most of my great planning were for the kids and not as much fun for myself. I definitely need to work on that.
1. I've been eating much healthier since I started meeting with a dietician through work. Some days are better than others, but I'm pretty proud of myself and the efforts I've been making. I'm much more conscious of making healthy choices and having food prepped to grab and snack on instead of relying on convenience foods.
2. Getting married! Kind of hard to beat that one this summer.
1. After a few weeks of DH and me having to clean poop out of his underwear and off the floor, DS3 finally seems to be getting the hang of pooping in the potty. I’m almost done with potty training for the last time!
Also, I’ve managed to walk the kids to school every morning for the first 6 days of school so far My older two used to walk themselves, but now that DS2 is in kindergarten I’m trying to walk everyone daily. Which means bringing DS3 as well. Getting myself and four kids out the door by 7:50 am is no small feat.
2. We had some super fun trips earlier in the summer and fun with friends who visited. But honestly I’m also really enjoying this part of summer when the kids are back in school but some of the fall sports haven’t really started up yet and my work schedule doesn’t get crazy till after Labor Day. It’s nice that things are quieter.
1. I painted my house and it looks so clean and fresh. I still need to finish the trim but having the house done is a huge accomplishment. I'm also really glad I have a one-story small house.
2. I'm not sure. I lost July...no idea where it went or what we did during that month. I think dog sitting in June was a lot of fun and made me remember what it is like having a young dog vs a senior dog. I also really have enjoyed my Tuesday night alone time. I get 3 hours of me time on Tuesday while DH has golf league and DD is at practice. That will end in September when golf league finishes up and I will be sad.
186momx, I feel like I lost July too. It was 2 sleepaway camps and a soccer camp, so apparently that is why I did nothing for myself that month. I am making up for it now.
1. I have been really proud this summer that I have been able to raise 2 humans to be, so far, highly functioning adults. Ds in the Army, 82nd airborne. Dd got her CNA over the summer and was good at it, its a step to her degree, but a matketable certification. And be able to send Dd to a very good university.
2. The summer has been a blur, so I most appreciate sitting outside and chilling out usually around the grill when we get a chance.
1. I did a presentation at work that went well. This morning I met with the new head of the middle school where DD goes to explain just what a shit show last year was, with specifics, and didn’t cry. I wanted to because honestly it was terrible for DD and she was one of the fairly lucky ones.
2. Vacation. It was easy and low stress and what we all needed. Also, swimming with my kids in our pool. We have had some epic water gun battles.
1. I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m getting a little bored in my job. I’ve taught the same grade for 24 years and I love it, but there is very little challenge in it anymore (outside of the normal challenges of being around 8th graders all day, and they are certainly getting more challenging). I have a small grade this year so some free time and I asked my boss if I could pilot a learning support program. I’ve finally got the design and the presentation ready for next week and I’m really proud of and excited by my work.
2. Summer was amazing but the best part was our trip to Ireland. My kids are just so fun to travel with and be around at this age.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
1.i feel like - and hope- I've been more present for my kids this summer. 2. On that note, the best part of summer was being away from the girls for a week! DD1's summer band concert and seeing DD2 progress with mountain biking were close seconds.

1. Accomplishment - getting a beach house after years of saving, looking, hemming, hawing. It just never seemed to be the right time to do it. It probably still isn’t - fall is my very favorite time to be there, and with DD2 playing soccer literally 7 days a week, I don’t think we will get there much. Not until the kids are much older anyway. But it’s so nice and relaxing when we are there!
2. Best part of the summer was the week that DH, DD2 and I spent at the house. There was no fighting, no demands to go everywhere and do everything. It was very chill. Dd2 is much more relaxed than DD1 and doesn’t have to be busy for every second of every day, so the vibe is just really different when it’s just the 3 of us. The summer has otherwise been very stressful, so that week was just amazing.
Holy shit supertrooper1 you are a different kind of strong!!! I have a goal of 135 and 100 is super hard!
1) I’ve been tackling a lot of yard work and I’ve taken loads and loads and loads of weeds and brush to our fire pit. It’s starting to look like a different place and my goal is to get out there and do it more often at the beginning of the day or end of the night so it’s not such an overwhelming task.
2) I recently changed schools and completely transformed my office space into the most amazing place ever. I don’t want to go back (normal) but I’ve never felt so positive for a return to school, bc of the change of environment and positive workspace.
1. I was invited to train to become an instructor at taekwondo. It adds 2 more hours of training every week and is intense with learning the forms and teaching techniques. It has forced me to come out of my semi-introverted shell in a good way. Master challenged me to learn 2 additional forms this cycle (we normally learn 1 per cycle) and I did it and will perform them for testing next Monday. No matter how bad my day is, I can always count on having a good time there!
2. My favorite part of summer was our road trip across South Dakota. We all had a great time exploring a new state. The kids were so good even though we were in the car a lot. It was the perfect amount of adventure, fun, and relaxing!
Unfortunately, it's been a very challenging year so I don't have much to add but you all are super inspirational.
Accomplishment - I'm kind of in the middle of it, but I've been able to purge some things this summer. This is pretty lame but its the best I got.
Best part of summer - honestly? it stunk and as much as I try to think of something? there's nothing. :-(
weather was terrible, I worked too much, no vacation, DS2 camp was a terrible experience, I was a chauffeur all summer driving my kids to karate and basketball and to friends. My oldest had a near drowning (caught in rip current-lifeguards saved him) and a few weeks later, he sprained his ankle so we've been to Dr appts a lot.
But I have high hopes for a good fall! Things seem to be settling and school schedules look promising and I'm making small progress on financial situation so....here's to a better season ahead.

campermom, 100 pounds is great! Most of the women I see are benching 65 pounds. I've only seen 2 others at my gym bench 135, but then again, I probably weigh 75 pounds more than the average woman in my gym. Putting a plate on each side is so satisfying!

I was a college athlete and we used to lift weights after the Men's Squash team. It was a huge ego boost to have to take their 25 pound weights off the benches to put the 45s on
