I realize that giving this attention is part of the problem, but I cant look away. I wonder if they’ll even attempt to hold this, or just take the money and run. Gift link: wapo.st/3R7cHdN
I saw this yesterday and wasn't in a place I could post! OMG I CAN'T WAIT!
It's going to be a disaster. Even if they've managed to fix all the problems of the first, the crowd they're going to get is going primarily for it to be a mess. So if it isn't a mess, the people going are going to create a mess. It's a no win here.
I'm glad Billy was able to learn and grow from his experience.
Seriously though, he doesn't try a different grift? I know he'll always be a sleazy conman, but he's dumb enough to do the exact same thing that put him in prison in the first place?
Oh, come on guys!!! I'm SURE it will be a success this time. I'm SURE Billy meditated on this in prison and really learned from the first experience. He's a CHANGED MAN!!!! Give him a chance....
Ha! I'm surprised his prison sentence didn't ban him from hosting future events. I'm excited that I get to watch this trainwreck live this time around.
My favorite quote from the article
Duolingo’s German Instagram account commented, “Cool. Can’t wait to not go.”
What are the chances the tickets ever went on sale at all (or weren't just pulled after 24 hours regardless of quantity sold)? This feels like it's own scam to build hype and drive demand. You already missed out on the $500 tickets! Better get in on the next tier of $700 tickets!

I bet a ton of influencers will buy tickets because having first row seats to a shit show will give them a huge amount of engagement. I doubt anyone actually thinks it's going to be good this time around - they all just want to cash in on the dumpster fire.

I had not considered this angle, but it makes perfect sense. It also makes me sad in an existential way.
“While I was in jail for fraud for the first Fyre festival, I had the most bestest BEST idea for Fyre 2. Buy tickets for a limited Hampton engagement this summer. On sale now!”
“No, wait, now that I am out of prison for fraud for Fyre 1 and on parole, I had an even BETTER bestest idea for Fyre 2 - go big! The Hamptons are canceled, buy pre-sale tickets now for Fyre 2 in two years!”
I am paraphrasing, but he is literally using his time in prison as a selling point for selling tickets for his next fraud.
