For clarity, hhs is recommending the reclassification. DEA gets the final say. That, and the fact that de-scheduling is what most advocates want in order to actually address the harms cannabis criminalization has had. Very little will change with regard to small and minority owned cannabis businesses.
Removing barriers to research could be huge. The medicinal benefits of marijuana as a form of pain relief could have major impacts in alleviating the opioid epidemic

I am anxiously awaiting fed approval for marijuana for pain relief as well. I am a disabled vet but I work for the federal government so even though it is legal in my state, I cannot partake. It sucks so bad bc I do want to try it (I am a mj virgin so to speak) but I also have daily pain from my service injuries. Ugh.

The link indicated that marijuana use may be allowed for certain federal employees? Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks! I got an early start and made a dr's appointment for an RX for it so here's hoping! I think it would make such a difference for me, there are days when the pain is intolerable and it makes sleep impossible so I'm really hoping. I am going to ask my deputy to ask our region what the policy is going to be. I honestly believe I am the last holdout on mj and only bc I'm scared. I know people in non drug testing positions who partake but I am such a scaredy cat even though I am in a non drug testing position. My luck, I'd do it and I get pulled for a random, lol.
