What did you read this week? Any ratings/reviews/recommendations?
QOTW: Since this is a three day weekend for most of us in the States for Labor Day, what do you like to do on three day weekends? (Doesn't have to be something you are planning for this weekend, can be just in general)
The Fortune Seller by Rachel Kapelke-Dale (a wild ride)
The Anniversary by Stephanie Bishop (I want to talk about that ending!)
It Was an Ugly Couch Anyway: And Other Thoughts on Moving Forward by Elizabeth Passarella (she seems to have gained some self awareness after her last book)
The Ballerinas by Rachel Kapelke-Dale (ok)
California by Edan Lepucki (uneven)
My Hijacking: A Personal History of Forgetting and Remembering by Martha Hodes (interesting)
The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner (Too many plot lines)
The Long Call by Ann Cleeves (good!)
Happiness Falls by Angie Kim (good!)
Power Hungry: Women of the Black Panther Party and Freedom Summer and Their Fight to Feed a Movement by Suzanne Cope (okay, could have been better)
QOTW: I like 3 day weekends when they aren’t three day weekends for everybody lol Too much traffic and crowds! But I like having two days for fun and one day for getting stuff done on the weekends.
I finished Happiness Falls by Angie Kim, which I didn’t particularly enjoy (annoying narrator, weird family dynamics that never fully resonated with me), and am now reading The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly, last of the Lincoln Lawyer books for me (I didn’t manage to read them in order).
QOTW: I don’t really have anything in particular — generally I just end up not doing much at all, which I guess is a nice break.
Earlier this week I read Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas. I actually left work early on Monday because I wasn't feeling well and ended up devouring this practically in one sitting. Definitely recommend if it sounds like something you'd like.
Now I am reading The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones. This has been on my Kindle for years but I just never got around to it. Really kicking myself because it's very good so far.
QOTW: Usually we go up my family's cottage for long weekends in the summer but there's a big cycling event in town that we don't want to miss so we'll be here. Hoping I can find at least one day to do absolutely nothing!
I finished The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry, 2.5*. I'm currently reading As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh.
Qotw: It depends where we are living. When we lived closer to our lake house I liked going there for long weekends. I don't really like going out here because it's too busy and it's too far to go to the lake for only 3 days.
Finished The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. Certain parts seemed repetitive but overall, it was really good. I’m giving it a 5*.
Currently listening to Maame by Jessica George. While I am liking the narrator a lot, I’m still waiting for the story to really pick up. Not sure if I will finish it before I have to return it.
Picked up Atomic Habits again.
QOTW: I try to rest or continue a project on the extra day.

I'm finishing up the Throne of Glass series with Kingdom of Ash. I'm about 2/3 through and I'm a little sad the story is getting close to the end!
QOTW: We don't do anything in particular on holiday weekends. Just whatever comes up. This weekend we're at my parents house visiting and are staying an extra night since we have the extra day off to do things at home. Although now we're planning on a movie because my mom gave us a coupon code to be used by Monday!

Finished There's No Coming Back from This which wrapped up a little quickly and neatly, but I deserved that after the anxiety of the first part. Finished The Boy Toy which didn't get any better.
Started reading Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone, which I'm really enjoying.
Started listening to Killers of a Certain Age and I'm early into it, but it's a little slow and repetitive. I forward to something happening.
QOTW: Since this is a three day weekend for most of us in the States for Labor Day, what do you like to do on three day weekends? (Doesn't have to be something you are planning for this weekend, can be just in general) ideally I love them for a chance to get away - a mini vacation or staycation. But we've been doing that a lot this year and so this weekend it was nice to stay home and do nothing.
