We had a decent weekend! DH and DD1 went to the beach house on Thursday evening after we all went out to dinner together. We decided that the kids needed some separation so DD2 and I stayed home. She had a friend over to swim Fri and Sat, and we just about finished watching A Small Light together in the evenings. Sunday we drove to the beach house and attempted to go to the beach, but they immediately started fighting so we left. They finally made peace a few hours later and went to play mini golf together.
We came home yesterday along with everyone else in New England, NY, NJ, and parts of Canada. It took me 1h20 mins to get there on Sunday and almost 3 hrs to get home on Monday. Rookie mistake - never again!
I'm trying to get a few things done before kids have friends over this afternoon. School starts tomorrow thank you sweet baby Jesus - everyone needs to get back on a regular schedule!!
Great weekend. Dd has matured so much in two weeks. She had lots of stories and went back yesterday with a load of stuff and fall decor.
Yesterday the hot weather did not go with my fall vibe setting out all our decorations. Dd requested spaghetti and meatballs and mashed potatoes before she went back, so I made a big late lunch. This is a very regional meal. I think it's weird, but everyone in my moms generation paired this together and dd loves it.
On Friday DH and I went to my cousin's wedding at the beach. It was beautiful and so fun! It was so special to see him married off - we were so close growing up and his parents and my parents are BFFs. I'm so happy for him! We spent the night there then took our time coming home on Saturday to enjoy the weather. Walked around the boardwalk a bit, visited a lighthouse and walked along the beach. It was perfect weather!
Sunday we picked up DS from his grandmother. His mom booked a 2-3 week honeymoon and demanded we take DS for the entire stretch. (No one really knows what the trip entails, not even her mom who lives with her...) We already had the wedding plans so we had to shuffle a bit and he stayed with his grandmother for that night while we were gone.
We spent Sunday and Monday with DH's mom. She was adamant that we all go boating at her camp on a lake. It's been a battle all summer between MIL and her kids because the boats are a sailboat, canoes and kayaks that are as old as DH and the life jackets looked to be about the same. None of us thought it was a safe endeavor but we agreed to take one for the team as the closest kids and go evaluate the situation with her. The "boats" are not in good shape but she wouldn't listen to reason with DH on that. She also insisted she could teach us all how to sail because she did it in college. She's 73. LOL I was finally able to convince her that the life jackets were a no go, so we have to delay boating excursions until we can replace them. And wouldn't you know it, it's the end of summer and they're all out of stock everywhere. She cracks me up. She's literally a millionaire with multiple properties all over very expensive areas. But can we buy new kayaks for her latest passion? No. Why spend that money when we have these "perfectly good" ones here?
3-day weekends with my four kids feel long when we're just in town - I slept very well last night after taking the kids downtown to the children's museum, then out to lunch, then to a big park with fountains they can play in, then doing a playdate for DS3 in the late afternoon.
Today is the start of my firm's big push to get people back in the office together multiple days per week. Even though I'm traveling for work on both of our non-office days this week and could probably get out of coming in on one of them for that reason, I'm trying to be a good sport. So I was in the office bright and early. DS2 has also decided that DD can just get him to his kindergarten classroom at school instead of DS3 and me walking up there with him, too. I do like the exercise of walking him to school and seeing his teacher and friends and their parents, so I'll probably still walk him sometimes. But it sure makes for an easier morning when my older 3 walk/bike out the door on their own and I only have to drop DS3 at preschool on my way to the office.

It was a struggle this morning. My mind is definitely not in work mode, but I finally buckled down and got some work done on a project that had been giving me trouble before lunch.
We had a great weekend. Did some work around the house, H and I spent too much money on a fancy mattress (a sign of middle age if there ever was one), kids had friends over Monday. Nice and low key. DD2 had a ton of homework so I’m glad we didn’t have plans.
We chose to do a low-key weekend since last week was the first full week of school. On Friday, we signed a contract to get a new roof and 5 windows replaced because they were way worse than I thought. The roof will be replaced next week and the windows will be installed in 6-8 weeks. It is going to be expensive, but well worth it when the energy bills are reduced in the long run. On Saturday, DS1 and I went to taekwondo while DD went to the video gaming club at the local library. Then DS1 went to a friend's house for a few hours. On Sunday, I donated blood. Then DD had some friends over. DH woke up with a terrible rash. He headed to urgent care and was diagnosed with Lyme disease. He is now on antibiotics and I am watching him closely to make sure no other symptoms appear. Dr expects him to respond well to the antibiotics. He'll follow up with his PCP later this week. Yesterday we just chilled in the house since it was really hot outside. I also did some classwork and worked with DS1 on some taekwondo stuff. This week is a little screwy because the kids' schools have open house. DD's is tonight and DS1 and DS2 are on Thursday.
librarychica, I also interested in which one you bought. We need a new one but I don't know what I want and we can't agree.
I processed so many tomatoes this weekend. We have 25 quarts and 30 pints of whole tomatoes that we did Saturday. Then Sunday we did 27.75 Quarts of tomato juice. Monday was the BBQ we worked for DD's gymnastics fundraiser.
I'm very happy to be at work and sitting behind my desk.
First day of school here. DD's friend picked her up so I didn't have to battle the crazy school traffic and she sent me a bunch of cute pictures of the kids in front of the school.

The weekend was low key and pretty good. Beau's grandson stayed Friday and Saturday nights. He and DS got along pretty good which hasn't been the case lately. Saturday, we took them to the park and then the mall for back to school shoe shopping. We tried a new kid friendly brewery that had pretty good pizza.
Sunday we drove out to my parents house and had dinner before dropping Beau's grandson off at home. Monday, I think Beau would have been content not leaving the house which is not like him, but I talked him into driving the hour and a half to Chick Fil A before going to the gym.
Today was DS's first day back to school from my house, so I was up a little earlier to make sure we still had our routine.
OK, looking into this mattress and adjustable base....does the divided king one mean that you get two twin mattresses and each one can adjust separately? Interesting...

Yes. H and I didn’t get one like that. My in laws have a sleep number with the divided base that they can adjust separately, and they love it for them, but sleep numbers just felt weird to us and we sleep pretty similarly.

I absolutely loved "A Small Light." I want another WW2 or Cold War series to watch, if anyone has recommendations
My weekend was good. H was out of town with buddies. Honestly, it's often easier when it's just me and the girls. I did a big mountain bike ride with girlfriends Saturday morning. DD1 went to open gym. Sunday, I took DD1 and a friend back to school shopping....translation: I worked at Starbucks while they went to Tilly's and H&M. They got some really cute items. DD1 has been saving her money for like a year and was very agreeable to use it for clothes. DD2 spent Sunday night at a friend's house. DD1, H and I saw Oppenheimer. We loved it!! Monday, my sister and I went for a chill mountain bike ride. Then the d's and I met friends at the pool. I'm tired today. This week will be fine. H leaves again tonight for a work trip. It will be nice having a quiet house each night after the Ds go to bed.

Oooooo the mattress comments/conversation is of interest to me as well! I've been thinking that it is definitely time to update ours so we need to start researching. Ours is about 12 years old also.

We had a great labor day weekend! Took our camper to the beach and had a great weekend. The weather was perfect (not too hot!), the ocean was calm enough for the 4 of us to spend hours swimming & enjoying ourselves. We took the kids to the local water slide place Sunday afternoon for a while. I had hoped to have one dinner out (didn't happen), but there's always next time! The campground had live music each night and that was fun also.
