Smooth sailing at Walgreens this morning. I asked about pediatric doses and she said she knows they're coming, but not sure when, so at least no misinformation there! Hoping for no side effects - they've been minimal for me in the past, so ๐ค
My pediatrician got them in yesterday but didn't have them coded in their system yet, so I'll keep calling (they said it was fine). So, hopefully we'll all be set before upcoming travel in October.

Update that I was able to get mine at my local Walgreens today.
@@@ The pharmacist didn't know anything about when the vaccine was coming for kids. Our local pharmacy, where my youngest got her last covid vaccines, was on the local news and their Facebook page says they expect it next week. Bonus is they can vaccinate down to 6 months, so I am hoping I can get all the kids vaccinated in one stop before a trip in October.

Adult Moderna and flu at CVS easy peasy!
The pharmacist was a bit of an antivaxxer though. He was going on and on about how weโve had too many of them and itโs going to fuck us up ๐ฌ
Just one more to go.
ETA: @@@ We were at the pedi this morning and they have absolutely no idea when they will actually get doses. They said ordering was a mess and supply is really limited.

H and I just got our Pfizer boosters at Walgreens. The pharm tech had to make sure they got more in because he said they got in a supply Wed and completely ran out by yesterday afternoon. They went through six boxes of the booster. I guess that's a good thing as it means people are getting vaccinated.
We had ours (moderna + flu) done yesterday at Walgreens. Bit messy, we had appts and still took an hour even though there were only 4 ppl in line in front of us.
My arm was sore right away, and within six hours i felt like was hit by a truck. A miserable night even with Nyquil. Feeling mostly better this morning although tired.

H felt totally fine like he always does ๐
I haven't had much reaction with other shots outside of a sore arm, but this one hit me a little harder. I'm about 24 hours out and didn't sleep well last night because my arm was so painful and my whole body aches. Glad I did it on a Friday. H goes in on Monday, and will hopefully get the kids in, too.

Just wanted to mention that the state of MN is offering 4 free covid tests PER MONTH to households in addition to the federal tests that opened up today.
So check your state sites to see if they are offering any also.

I work remotely with colleagues all over the country and I have SO many coworkers out with covid or showing up looking miserable and sick on zoom calls (our PTO is all from one bank so no one wants to use it on sick days and they eliminated the extra covid leave.)
Like so many. More than Iโve ever seen at once even in 2021 or 2022.

Yup. There are more teachers and kids at my school out with Covid right now than at any point during the 2020 or 2021 school years.

At my school itโs very close between December โ21 and right now for the greatest number of teachers out. Although now you only have to be out for 5 days vs 10 and the nurse wonโt send kids home for symptoms to test, so it doesnโt feel as dire.

I cancelled my last Friday appointment because it knocks me on my ass for a couple of days and I had two interviews yesterday. Now I can't find an appointment any time soon. Sigh...

Oh I didnโt report back after I got my shot since people have asked. Iโve had moderna only and have always felt just fine. This time the next day I had nausea all day (never get nausea so donโt know what else couldโve caused it) and I felt tired and went to bed early around 10pm. This is the first shot after having covid (back in January), so maybe that had something to do with it? I also got the flu vaccine at the same time but Iโm pretty sure I did the same thing last year (canโt remember for sure).
We canโt find appointments around here. I waited until the end of last week to start looking because my 16 year old was recovering from his first bout with Covid and I wanted to make sure none of us caught it. Now I canโt schedule anything until the end of next week and starting then only in other towns - nothing where I live. (I donโt have a car so not super easy for me). Iโm also trying to figure out how to get my 11 year old his- no pharmacies are scheduling for under 12, and no word on any town/school clinics (how he got all his other shots - usually they are very on top of scheduling them). My dad in Florida keeps having his appointments at CVS cancelled day of - heโs had 3 appointments cancelled. This roll out seemsโฆnot great.
Ugh, I'm kicking myself. I saw appts on Friday for next week that would have worked well for me and my kids, but I needed to check with H if he was ok with it. By the time I did that, the appts were gone. Now I can only find them 2 weeks later and at pharmacies further away. I'm going to wait a day or 2 and see if they update the schedule for the 2 CVSs in my town before I book one 15 mins away. It is really irritating that this is so hard. Although that might be better so that I can take both kids at once since it will be after DD2's bday.
They're getting their flu shots this week and I'm still hoping maybe the pedi office will magically have them at the same time. Probably not since I called last week and they had no idea when they were coming.

I was able to get appointments for H and I for Saturday, but not for the kids until mid-October. We are both traveling soon though, so we wanted to get them asap.
We are getting Pfizer, which I'm not looking forward to. My original shots were Pfizer and I got a fever and bad symptoms for 24-48 hours. Nothing when I had my moderna booster. Hopefully this one is better, but I'm bracing for it.

I was actually able to get the kids in to CVS yesterday. They were like, "We have eight doses, so you're lucky!" It sounded like they didn't get many in, and we just happened to hit it right.
I have the option to get the flu shot at my work in a few weeks so I will be doing that. I need to make appts for DS(7) and H to get their flu shots at Walgreens.
We just had covid in July. I think we'll wait until Nov to get our covid shots. I'd wait until Dec but for the last two years DS has been sick for almost the entirety of the month. Last year H and I joined him for 1.5-2 weeks of that time.

I hope this means doses for kids are rolling in. My 10yo had an appt on Sunday but they didnโt have them so I rebooked for 10/2. Hereโs to hopingโฆ
I had a physical this morning so I got a flu shot, but they didn't have and won't get the COVID vax. They're referring to pharmacy which is annoying (and which I already knew because my H is their sales rep LOL).
@my older kid has an appt with the pedi on monday for flu and I am hoping I can add on the COVID while we are there. And I'm kinda hoping they will do me too. Normally they are pretty good about that kinda of stuff so fingers crossed!
Update: My plan failed.
@i did bring my kid to pedi for his flu shot and they did have COVID shots in stock, but they said they were charging $150 OOP fee because many insurances aren't covering them yet. So we just got the flu shot. I'll try again next week when my other one has his annual visit. My H thinks they'll stary giving them out for "free" on 10/2 so fingers crossed.
I don't know what happened, but suddenly there's a ton of appointments available. I have flu/covid schedule for Friday.
The initial shipments were pretty small so Iโm guessing these are new batches being delivered. Lots of under ordering due to not having the upfront costs covered, worries about level of uptake, and whether the privatization would impede reimbursements.

Our 2nd attempt at Covid shots failed. We got to the pharmacy yesterday and were told they sold out. Thereโs been absolutely nothing for kids I can find either. Itโs been super discouraging.

Ugh that sucks.
I finally found an appt to get it for myself at my local CVS on 10/11. Hopefully they actually have it by then.
Still nothing close by for my kids. Taking them for their flu shots at the pedi tonight, hopefully they will have some info about when they'll get the covid doses too.
I am in central NH, our hospital (largest in the region/state) still does not have any of the new vaccine, nor do any of the area pharmacies. As in, nobody has received any yet.
