I had no idea who these people were until they started blowing up on tea channels on youtube.

In my ideal world, parenting influencers wouldn't exist.

It's all over my feeds, and I don't follow anything parenting related.

I agree I wish they just didn't exist. At least some states are making moves to protect the children and make sure they are guaranteed a percentage of the income much like Hollywood has for child actors

They are tangentially fundie-related, so anyone who has followed the Duggars or Bates is probably talking about them.

I saw this story last week. Never heard of her either, but wow - of all people giving out advice.

Maybe half a year or so or more I came across her posts about refusing to bring her 5 yr old a lunch at school when the 5 yr old forgot it. I remember being appalled. Not surprised she was arrested

She regularly withheld food as punishment. She also removed a child's bed for many months. She bragged about these things on her channel.

In another article I read apparently multiple neighbors had reported them to cps, but nothing came of it.

I wish "parenting influencers" in general weren't a thing. Children deserve privacy and the right to decide for themselves whether they want intimate details of their lives shared forever on the internet with millions of people. I know I'm projecting my own feelings here, but it would be so uncomfortable and invasive if my entire childhood was online and could be googled by anyone (acquaintances, boss, coworkers, etc.).

Sorry to jump in, but yes, they are Mormons. The story is so awful. A few of the older children got out before this and the daughter has spoken out about trying to get CPS involved for a while. She's also done other terrible things in the past like withholding Christmas gifts for some children as punishment, denying the "privilege to eat dinner" etc.

She is also a Connexions member which seems very culty.

Yep - The connections founder (Jodi Hildebrant) was the other one arrested and was living with Ruby Franke.
