We flew into Faro and then was picked up by YellowFish Transfers. Definitely a HUGE positive review for them. Professional and on time both too and from the airport.
We stayed at Vila Gale Lagos, which is outside of Lagos. It took us between 20-35 minutes to get to places in Old Town - walking. We walked a lot! The pros of the place (stayed B&B): great breakfast options, 3 pools that were a good temp, other activities to do (if you have kids, it's a fab place for them - has a kids pool and programmes). It is located a quick walk from a very nice and not busy beach. The rooms were good size and we had a nice balcony. Cons: you only got one key fob to the room and you needed it for electricity, including air con - so that meant that the room was slowly baking if you were away for the day (they did have good blackout curtains which we learned to use). Other cons - breakfast was crowded between 8.30 and 9.30, it had a 'cold' vibe to it and as we weren't all inclusive like the majority of people there, if we wanted a drink or something during the day/night, we had to wait a bit longer. My H declared the air con issue the reason he would not return.
Places we ate/drank at that we'd definitely go back to (and we did one place):
O Perceve - seafood restaurant run by a fisherman. Not cheap but amazing food. We went back on our final night. Pie - really good pies JukeBox Tapas - as the name says, tapas and ones that are comfort food (it's only 7 tables and he is booked every night) Beats & Burritos - we wanted Tex-Mex. I got the burrito bowl and H got a burrito. Very happy with both. EasyBar - it's a wine bar that serves very garlicy seafood (we love garlic, so yum)
Beer & Co - craft beer place that shows sport Bon Vivant - rooftop bar with good cocktails Peppers - another rooftop bar with even better cocktails Mosto - wine shop/wine bar that also has tapas
Lagos is a great place to wander with fabulous beaches and good food and drink!
Part 2 to come - we currently in Lisbon and we'll be heading to Porto.
