I finally bought some jeans that fit me AND I feel good in! <3 They are the Old Navy OG straight leg. They were pricier than I thought ON would be, but I am glad to look semi-human now.

When I was downtown last night a woman asked me a question and we started talking and she told me I looked familiar. Turns out DS1 and her oldest, both now freshmen, were in the same mommy and me music class 13 years ago, ha! The funny part is at high school orientation I ran into another mom and her son from that class.
Hoping we get some rain today and that everyone wants to relax. DH and DS1 will likely watch football this afternoon and I plan to search for a good movie to watch. Then DS2 has a bday party to attend tonight.
Less than 24 hours till I get the bandage off and stitches taken out from my carpal tunnel release. Wahoo!
Yesterday’s event went really well! More people than expected showed up, everyone was excited and the weather was perfect! Then I got steamed crabs, cupcakes and oysters.
Today was supposed to be a beach day but it’s a little cool and cloudy so not sure what to do instead.
I'll have to check out Old Navy! I went to Marshalls yesterday and didn't find anything. I tried on a bunch of sweaters/cardigans but they all just looked kind of frumpy. I don't like things to be tight, but sometimes I wonder if I'm shopping a size larger than I actually need. It's hard to find stuff that isn't fitted but isn't too big, either. I get really self conscious about my stomach if shirts are fitted in that area, but in order to avoid that I'm ending up looking kind of sloppy instead.
I have 13 students in the class that I'm teaching this semester, and that's so many when it comes to grading! Just for the first of four modules, that meant 52 things to review. I am hoping to get a lot of that finished today, but I kind of doubt I will get through everything. I'm about 1/3 of the way done. I hate to wait a long time to return the grades, though - it's only an 8 week course so if they get no feedback until halfway through, that's not super helpful.
DH said MIL was coming by early today. So I was walking out the door to the grocery store and then went “oh when is your mom getting here?” Figuring like 10am.
He goes “noon.” Ummm that’s not early…
I guess it’s better than 4pm and then gets mad when we’re prepping dinner at 5 and shooing her out the door.

I feel like a lot of things at Old Navy are are pricier than they should be- it’s Old Navy!

I'm taking DD to get her ears pierced for her birthday, she is super excited! I can't believe she's 11. We were supposed to do the trampoline place too, but she still has a cough from her cold earlier this week so I told her we should put that off until the cough lets up a bit more. I can't remember a year she hasn't had some sort of illness around her birthday, stupid back to school germs.
TW - Insects. Gross, many legged insects. Two randoms.
...
1) Twice in the last three days I have been standing by the dishwasher and had a roach crawl up MY FUCKING LEG. The first time, I was putting away clean dishes at the end of a frustrating, stressful work day. I killed that roach. With violent anger, extreme prejudice, and my bare fucking foot. But the one last night got away from me.
Rationally, I know that we've had a lot of rain and the temps are dropping, so all the creepy crawlies are looking for their winter homes.
Lizard brain wants to burn the house down.
2) I used cloth grow bags for my garden this year. Filled them with organic soil. I've had some issues with slugs (smashed with extreme prejudice) and other bugs, but I read that millipedes can actually be beneficial so I left them alone. Jokes on me because now I know what baby millipedes look like. One bag is completely infested. I'm trying to just let nature do its thing. But it is GROSS.
Again, rational me knows it's the extra humidity. Lizard brain wants to burn EvErYtHiNg.
So while I was hoping to do nothing but crochet today, I will instead be spending my time spraying insect poison all over the outside boundaries. And around the kitchen baseboards. And as far under the dishwasher as I can manage.
Did I mention I was washing kitchen towels Friday and discovered baby roaches in my towel drawer? Because that happened too. I've set out roach bait. I'm spraying today.
We were supposed to go apple picking yesterday and got rained out. We were hoping to go today after my kid's soccer game, but it looks like both will be rained out. Guess it's a day of organizing/prepping for the week at home.
SwimDeep, burn it down is the best option. I support you. Assuming you are well insured.
I broke out my embroidery machine for the first time since we moved (over two years ago). To make bibs for a baby shower at work. I use to sew so much when all my friends were in babies, but the youngest in that cohort is 6. So I have stacks and stacks of leftover baby stuff. Cause it just stopped. But, since the oldest are in college, I guess there is grandbaby stuff coming, eventually. I also got a commission out of it, as I was showing off my nerdy baby bibs to someone else. And they want one. Of course it’s the pattern that is rough on my machine and jams the thread every other one. I’m hoping if I switch to a fresh needle each time, it’ll work better. I’ve never changed for making things, even requests. But needles are like $2 each. The bib blanks $2.50. So, even cost is $5-ish.
I feel like we’ve discussed this before, but I’m blanking. We live near popular walking trails. H found a wallet along the trail early this morning. It had IDs and credit cards. Not a name I know as a neighbor. Take it to a police station?

Had rain again in Lisbon and got caught in it - total downpour. Had to come back to our flat and put our jeans into the washer/dryer - tried to figure out how to just dry them, and not sure it worked (but they are finally dry now (afternoon). We waited it out and then found a more local place for brunch versus the 30 minute away place, and it was very good, so we were happy. Took naps and then went to the castle, which was cool. Going to head out soon to do a food/drink tour around Lisbon.
Had good intentions to get us to church this morning, but we all were just too slow to get moving for that. I've also gotten nothing else done in the meantime.
It's cool and rainy, and just begging to be a lazy day 🤷🏻♀️

DS has baseball today, but he’s sick. Just a welcome back to school cold, but I think we will skip his game. DH is coming home at some point today from his boys trip. We didn’t do very much this weekend while he was gone. I doubt he will care at all. He’s a sweetheart.
I am just so burnt out. Too much lately with work, remodel mess, personal stuff, cat and family member death. I just need a damn break. Which I know my family supports fully. So, instead of my to do list, yesterday I took a nap. And I’m likely taking most of week after this coming week off. I’ll likely putter, rest, recharge.

If the IDs have an address listed I'd probably just take them to wherever that is, assuming it's not super far away.
Kid 1 and I went to a play yesterday that I was expecting to be underwhelmed by, and it wound up being one of the most entertaining shows I've been to in the last couple of years. I'm so glad they pushed me into buying tickets. We've already decided to go to the next show this theater is putting on, and if it's just as good I might look into getting season tickets next year.
Today DS 2 really needs to do some weeding in the backyard. Kid 1 and I should help too, but they set up a photography hike with my dad weeks ago (he got them a new lens for their camera as a birthday gift), and I scheduled a hike with my mom for the same time. When I get home I need to pick the rest of our ripe tomatoes and then do some serious spaghetti sauce making. I think this will be the last big batch--the roma tomato plants really slowed down last week.

H is quarantined for Covid in our room and I’m discovering that, left to my own devices, I’m pretty gross. I haven’t showered or really changed clothes since Friday. In my defense, our clothes are in our bedroom, but still. I also eat like a college kid again, although I did make up a pot of chicken rice soup.

Have you tried googling them? When I found a bunch of someone's cards last year, I was able to track them down via social media (IIRC I found them on Nextdoor). If you can't find them at all, I'd either drop it at their house or the police are probably fine too.
ETA Never mind, I see they don't have a local address on them. I would still look them on social media - maybe they moved here and won't be too hard to track down?

When I make something for a friend and don't want to charge them, I provide a link for supplies and instructions on what they need to buy. They can pick their colors and have the supplies shipped to me. Then I do the labor free of charge. My supplies are usually in the $15-20 range. It works well for me, but my supplies are also pretty hard to screw up (I make paracord leashes).
Today is my birthday! I am so happy with life right now and it’s been a great weekend so far. Yesterday we went hiking, had lunch at my favourite brewery, played backyard baseball with our neighbours, and then sat around our fire pit looking at the stars. Today we’ll see a couple friends, H is making pumpkin ravioli for dinner, and we just get to chill together. My heart is so full right now.

Old Navy arrived in Chile like a year ago, and I was excited to have an option for inexpensive basics particularly for L, but it's legit expensive. So nevermind. I'll leave it to the people who think it's fancy just because it's from the US.
It's gross outside today, no rain but gray and cold. And FI for some reason has gotten into the habit of going to the gym at 11 am on Sundays, instead of waiting until L's naptime, which annoys me, but I feel like I can't be annoyed because I haven't asked him to do otherwise. So of course today, while I was annoyed and biting my tongue, L proceeded to cry for over an hour because all he wanted was his father, and nothing else would do. It's after 1 pm, L finally fell asleep, and I'm still in my pajamas, which I don't judge on others but absolutely hate for myself, because I haven't had a fucking minute to put clothes on.
wildrice, nsl, no social media presence I could find. So yeah, I ran it down to the police station. I hope it can get back to him. While cards and even the NJ license are replaceable, I would expect the overseas driver license to be a lot more of a hassle.
I have been obsessed the last few weeks with this breakfast sandwich I made on a whim. Scrambled eggs, white cheddar, tomato, and chipotle mayo on lightly toasted sourdough. Sometimes I’ll add bacon, but usually not. It’s so freaking good. I’m eating them multiple times a week.
