I am heartbroken and shocked.
She had a heart attack while making lunch. Her brother found her after not being able to get a hold of her. She hit her head on the counter and the stove was still on. My uncle (her husband) has Alzheimer’s was in the bedroom and had no idea. Now he doesn’t have his support system (he has his extended family but you all know what I mean). I guess the saving grace is that he doesn’t really understand what is going on. But his life is going to be completely upended.
My mom died in 2009 and my aunt filled that void for me. She filled the missing grandma roll for my kids. My kids are heartbroken.

I’m so sorry. I lost my aunt unexpectedly over a decade ago, but the loss is still gut wrenching to me. She was only 56. A wonderful aunt is one of life’s greatest gifts. I always felt like I had the unconditional love of a mom without the sometimes complicated mother-daughter dynamic. I’m glad you were blessed too, but it definitely makes the loss so hard. Thinking of you and the rest of her family.
